Re: Bad luck???
Black dogs ARE FAVORED in my country. Black being the color of the night and the guardian dog is more effective in stealth because of their color camouflage. Black dogs black cats unadoptable, number 4 banned in Canada because it is similar to DEATH in chinese calligraphy. Whatelse?

Re: Bad luck???
THAT'S BAD LUCK THEY STILL BELIEVE ON SUCH THINGS,
Anything that we see in this world is good in its natural state. Nobody can say BAD LUCK because "a crow kept pecking at your head and death is close by."
Fiction.

Re: Please offer assistance - my chow chow passed away
Oh so sorry for your Mochi. The trainer is not a good dog trainer. He is the one that caused Mochi to collapse. Over exertion. A dog can die from over heating. But if water is available and Mochi was allowed to rest, death could never happen unless he was poisoned. Why does the training class lasts ...

Re: Fatal pitbull attack:It's the owner not the dogs
What goes into the dog's mind that when it sees a lone human walking by the street that it goes into prey-drive mode and attacks a human without being provoked? Take note: HUMANS. Animals smaller than us have an inherent fear of people and that's how nature is. What kind of treatment does the vile o...

Never underestimate the male's determination to get to the female in heat. Since I know why you dont want Rory to get into Amber is for obvious reason. Amber too young to be bred. Separate them for not less than 3 weeks from the onset of heat. You'll know once the males are interested in Amber's beh...

Fatal pitbull attack:It's the owner not the dogs
http://ph.news.yahoo.com/police-person-interest-fatal-calif-dog-attack-233226548.html This is just sad. Had these dogs been in the Philippines, they would be immediately killed even with the owner is looking on or protesting. These news are usually from the U.S. which makes me stop and think, is it ...

You cannot pattern her after your old chows. Mazzy has her own personality. Others have already said socialization and training. You can socialize her to a certain point only. Then from that point you have to respect her choices.if she doesn't want to greet after so many similar situations , let her...

Re: Help! Rude Puppy
It boils down to temperament. Deja and Delilah don't agree much. Females can get along each other fine but there are females who you can say "arch enemies. Behaviour, they growl at each other in as little as eye contact, or their furs touch because the alley is too narrow. Food aggression. It d...

Re: Fence Fighting
The neighbor's dog almost did the the two in if the owner haven't intervene. Cassie was a young pup then and Blue is well, being Blue. Courageous and adamant. The neighbor's mutt decided it was showtime when he saw the two outside with no fence to hold them back. I was nervous because the mutt never...

there is no right age to clip a chow's fur to bare skin. But if you wish to trim like clipping a few millimeters or one centimeter off their coat, it doesn't hurt at all.

Re: 11 yr old chow
another desperate way is, powderise the pill, dissolve it in 5cc or 5mL of water, have a 5cc or 10cc syringe (remove the needle), and open his mouth and your force feed it. All you have to do is keep him looking up until he swallow the mixture. Add sugar to make it palatable. Do this if the pill is ...

Re: 11 yr old chow
Plus the pill pusher??? Isnt that dangerous to your chow? Gag on it? I used to shove pills into my dalmatians' mouth with my bare hand, with ease and confidence. With Cassie? Not much luck, she is far too skittish and quick to pull back her head so I have to use tactic 2, which is covert - putting t...

I used to worry. but it cools her off and her coat went fine. It is an entirely different matter if a chow is in a temperate region.

It is in your upbringing why he is people-shy. At two years old, you'd have to be patient to make him sociable. Buy a long retractable leash 5meters. or make your own. If you do walks daily Po will get used to it (walking and seeing dogs). But the more difficult thing to train is his reaction to oth...

Allergy? If infected, could be mites. Coupled with fungal or bacterial infection if he lies on damp areas. What do you mean to prevent him from sleeping in moist places? These can be found in outdoor laundry area, or a sunk concrete floor. Could be the dog food you are feeding as he culprit if it is...

Re: Training a fearful, but not aggressive chow mix
You can take your cue from her cowering when you are lecturing your kids. Stay away from that tone. A little lower pitch than that. Work on it (voice pitch). You teach by ignoring her when you dont want that specific behavior. I know you are bound to melt and stoop and give her a belly rub or give i...

Cassie used to be like that when still a puppy. All the behaviors described above. She'd go inside and then realized she cant get out so she bites the metal gate and if I try put my finger to let her lick it she growled and even attempted to bite me. Her last resort? Turn her butt on me and play dea...

Those are peace loving muslims. I am talking about terrorist muslims. Like in Boston. Seeing those suffering rends my heart. And since I love dogs and is a cc.org member I thought how stark we are. How bizarre of us to love the same hated animal breed they abhor. I was just wondering if it could hav...

Herding is an exception. So they (the muslims) can keep a dog or dogs strictly for utility. But it is stated that to keep one will defile them. Angels dont even enter a household having dogs. So normal city dwelling families dont have dogs. Judging from their insight, it is not a far cry that the do...

To all who says third world countries does not afford and is afraid of dogs, I live in a third world country. Majority are catholics. I have been seeing news about the Boston bombing and its aftermath - to its near conclusion. My suspicion was proven right when police released that the bombers are muslims. It makes us all feel hostaged by these acts of terrorism. And Pres. Obama was even careful not to label it a terrorist act on ...

That story is soo funny Boogie and linda. It made me forget the first post on this thread. :D I am so glad my chow only gets rats. Cassie hasn't had any luck with the birds and the cat. Poor cat. Hera - dalmatian - always get a stray cat. I never saw her and wonders how she do it as her mother Cooki...
