Kelly, Welcome to this site! I am sorry you are having the difficulties with the new chow, but as Jeff has indicated, it may take longer. You are certainly doing all the right things in researching websites, consulting a behaviorist, etc. My Kodi (chow/gsd mix; mostly chow), is a friendly girl, but ...

Update on Bear!
All, I have been corresponding abit with Nikki about Bear. Here's an update. I invited her to come to this board - she has lots of questions! I'm sure it'd be ok to use the email link in Jeff's post above to write to her, just mention you're on chowchow.org and it's about Bear. I have two pictures s...

Re: Ear Infections
Mr. Nahkohe had his ears flushed due to an ear infection. There was wax and other debris removed. I was told that it could be bacterial or allergies. He's on antibiotics and to be given a dose of ear ointment. The oinment treatment has been very tough as he typically runs away when he sees that I h...

Hi- Jeff, I didn't mean to 'hijack' your post, but I did write to Nikki and she replied. Turns out the hospital won't take money (checks especially), but she will. You can email her at the email address Jeff gave above and she'll provide her address, etc. The picture she sent of poor Bear at the she...

Hi again, I called the hospital, spoke with Lou, the clinic manager and he did not know about arrangements for donations for either the clinic or on behalf of Bear. I emailed Nikki at the address given in Jeff's post, so hopefully that will get straightened out soon. Just wanted you all to know. Ta...

Actually somewhere in the middle of no toes wet to shallow paddle for Kodi. She doesn't mind puddles or walking in rain at all (was a miserable walking winter for me...). Not sure how she'd do in shallow water (ie, up the legs) but I'd guess that'd be the most she'd like. Interesting! You'll get fun...

Standing Chows
Hi all, I have this picture I found of a Chow standing up (see link below). Kodi does this quite often, on our walks. There's an almost waist high hedge on a corner house that cats hide in. She knows it too, so she'll stand up just like this. Anyone else's chow do this? I suspect so... http:/...

One more thing you can add to the one and only world of Chows is, I'm not sure if this is true and I only have Pekoe to base it on but someone once told me Chows are the only breed then can move their ears independantly. they can move one ear one way and move the other ear in a different direction....

Hi Lou, The only reason I'll do the yearly or scheduled (every 3 for rabies?) is because we do have Kodi at dog parks and have boarded her once, will again and it's a requirement of the boarding facility. As she ages, I will cut it back to bare minimum. There's SO much information on the web about t...

I promise not to play around after this, but I wanted to see if a Shutterfly picture would show here. If it doesn't work, I'll stop 'experimenting', and just sit back and enjoy the new format! http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b4dc00b3127cce9add967d25c600000026108IZuXLhs2aq didn't work, ne...

Attention: Admin - Request for new Pet Link
Dear Admin. Can you add Petfinder.com to your Pet Links? I tried to today using the feature, but it didn't work. Thanks!
