This is horrible. I can't believe I somehow missed this post before. I hope she recovers and gets the best home ever. She definately deserves it. Our thoughts will be with her as she recovers. If anyone has any updates, please let us know. I am so glad she is away from that horrible man. It is just ...

I am sorry about your mom being ill and sorry that Bubba is acting up. Please do not have him put down or take him to a shelter. I am in California and not familiar with any rescues in Michigan but hopefully someone on this site will know of one. I agree with Jeff that Bubba may be acting out becaus...

A long time ago (before we had a Chow) I saw a show on Martha and her home. She not only has Chows but she also has a bunch of himilayan cats (for those not into cats, they are like persian cats but they have siamese markings). When they were talking about them they had all of the cats sitting...

Boogie is black and I am not sure if our foster chow, Teddie, is red or cinnamon. I guess I am not sure what the difference is. In pictures he looks red but I would say he is more light brown in person so I guess that would be cinnamon. He does have a black streak on his tail which is kind of differ...

I also wanted to suggest having his ears checked. Our rescue foster Teddie had ear infections in both ears and what I noticed is that he only wanted to sleep outside in the cold (and it was in the 20's here) and that he was moving his head around a lot and scratching at his head. He too would also y...

This is an awful situation. Everyone should really be mad at the people who used this poor chow to protect their drug dealing business. I usually agree with you, Jeff, and I feel awful for this poor chow but I actually worked with Catherine and she does know about Chows. Of course that doesn't mean ...

Jeff, how tall is Pekoe? She looks to be on the taller side. JJ (another female) in the other pictures also looks bigger and taller than the two I have here. They are both beautiful. People ask me if ours are mini chows (like there is such a thing) because of their size. Boogie is male and he is sho...

That is the amount that I feed so it sounds good to me. I give a cup of dry with a half of cup of wet in the morning and then the same in the evening. Speaking of food....I took the new chow, Teddie, that I am fostering to a new vet the other day and the vet said I should only feed one cup of dry fo...

This may be a stupid question but here goes anyway. A couple of you mentioned that you don't like crate training because a fire could break out and your chow would be trapped. Wouldn't the case be the same if they were sectioned off in a part of your home? I leave mine outside in a covered fe...

Yeah, I think Boogie is just happy being the baby. The only thing he cares about is being embarrassed. As long as no one puts him in his place too much then he goes along. Once someone embarrasses him, he pouts and hides. LB just wants to be with people (and kill cats). He does play with Boogie occa...

There are live traps that you can set out. The mouse will be trapped inside a little box and then you can take him where ever you wish to release him. Also, have you tried those things that you plug into the outlets in your house? They are supposed to repel mice and other vermin from coming into you...

I am so sorry to hear that this happened. I hope she will be okay and will keep her in my thoughts. I am sure you know that leaving babies (human or otherwise) with dogs unsupervised is not a good idea no matter what their temperment is. The truth is, that babies (human or otherwise) don't know limi...

We're getting another chow
Hi, I think I mentioned before that my family and I have been fostering with Chow Chow Rescue of the Sierra Foothills, well there is a young Chow in desperate need at the Martinez shelter that we are going to take in on Tuesday if all goes well (keep your fingers crossed :D ). I am hoping to find a ...

I would also contact UC Davis veterinary school and see if they can do anything. They would have access to all of the latest treatments and if all else fails maybe even something experimental might help. Davis is only a couple of hours away from you and if you don't feel you can take her that far th...

What did they think would happen when they let the dogs out of the contained yard? I am glad that two survived such a horrible ordeal but that poor...

Have you tried Petfinders? There are quite a few Bengals listed in Southern California. It looks like there were 8 young Bengals abandoned in front of a pet store. They are listed under California Bengal Cat rescue in Redwood City but under their names it says they are located in Southern California...
