My hubby's dog we just lost not too long ago was a black chow / lab ? mix. She stopped even the Sears guy from wondering around. Bodily blocked him and just woofed til someone got there. She didn't have any teeth hardly , she would not have bitten anyone. Being black no one had wanted her. We took h...

Isn't it true or did I hear it somewhere that more black dogs are PTS in shelters than any color???? When I first got Kearra someone felt the need to tell me that his Dad had a cream and a red but the red one would bite people.........he said his Dad didn't have a Black one because they are the MEA...

School starts back here in the middle of August, in the Heat! Boys are grown, they never cared much about clothes until their fiance's did. haha. That was funny. My one boy went from never caring what he wears to dressing very stylishly. She buys most of his clothes. I have no comment. My boys try t...

Pets and People , our local no kill shelter says they have a much harder time finding homes for black dogs. Black chow mix is the worse. They don't seem to take full chows really from what I can tell. Almost all the ones we have homed are black or mostly black. Including the black great dane new add...

Lots of dogs seem to have allegies these days. Several of ours do. The basset of my son has it the worse. Then Shandi , then the husky Memnok. The shepherd is fine, he doesn't seem to have trouble with it or the pug . The gooby ear , Shandi is on her 2nd type , 3rd week of meds. The shots for allerg...

Hi from Oklahoma, also pretty hot and humid. AC , lots of AC and only walks when it is very early morning or very late night in the cooler temps. Lots of fresh water. A small kiddy pool. Lots of the dogs seem to enjoy that. Have never shaved my girl, afraid she would not grow the hair back as well o...

I cannot say I would feel safe mushing anywhere. I would get myself killed or seriously broken and I don't break easy. I do like the cart though and my pups sure like it. I agree you guys, that one has to be careful. We have one old dog here that just walking him to far on a leash can cause his old ...

 That sounds like so much fun. When you are a kid you don't think about how many bones you are about to break. Mine dog as a kid I attached to a plain ole wagon a few times. I am sure he thought I was nuts . He did pretty good with it but the pony worked better but he liked to kick too so hmm. ...

Sorry to hear all the trouble. Sounds like a headache and 1/2. New neighbors for us to but we are the vampires that happen to stay up most of the night. Next door now are young, maybe 20's and loud. I can see it is going to cause some trouble. Most of this area is very guiet. Our dogs don't care if ...

there are alot of folks that do it. It is fun. What little bit we have done. We had the harnesses custom made for each dog so they would not get hurt. Made our own cart out of bits we salvaged. They like pulling. The husky of course does. I had read that chows used to pull so we let her try and she ...

Would never consider any of mine pulling anything when it is warmer than 80 degrees out. We do some of this for our husky and the shepherd is learning . Helps get some of their energy out . I don't ride a scooter, they just pull a cart. Yes, Shandi our chow likes getting into the act as a lead dog o...

I actually have a regular rubber ? bristle people brush that Shandi likes best and it is great for getting out dirty spots from play. She goes to sleep when I use it. A comb for some tougher spots and then the rake for the undercoat. Her fav is the people brush, we use it almost every night before b...

Hiya, sorry to hear about your troubles. You might try and longer lead so the dog can do some running. I sorta run but I could not keep up with my girl if I had to. So long lead and she kinda runs around and back / forth. I also use a halti on her . Helps with control since I am very small and she w...

Poor baby , sorry to hear she is so frightened. Is there anything she really likes that she might come for . Like to be near you ? I had a tab , a short leash I kept around my girl for awhile so I could grab her easier. Maybe a very short leash would help her get use to one? What about special food ...
