Re: Kicked out of puppy socialization....

I think you are right. Maybe try to find another trainer? I have not had the opportunity to take any of mine to puppy socialization but isn't that why you are paying them to help work with behavior with other dogs? I would run from that trainer and find another.

Re: The Edge Chows have and dogs

Since you had mentioned the making a fool out of you in the dark. Bear does this at the least every night. He will do one of two things. At night where I hook him up to the lead to go out there is light but as soon as you turn the corner of the house, it is pitch black. I can't see a thing. The firs...

Re: florida summer is comming

If we have to go somewhere like the vet when it is really hot, I try for either an early morning or late evening trip out. I also carry ice cubes in an insulated container & give that too them.

Re: Chow Traits

LOL..yes the stare! Bear usually does it for treats or if I am not paying attention to him and he has to go out. He also wills Bluto into doing things or him. He makes Bluto wake me up if he has to go out. Bluto doesn't have to go but Bear does and Bluto is the one hopping around at the bed to wake ...

Chow Rescue info

I had posted awhile back about starting an online shop with Etsy to help defray some of the costs with my EB Bluto. I am still working on it and also started posting on another site artfire.com. Since I am not at a point to start my own Chow rescue, I would like to donate a percentage of sale...

Re: Walking in circles, limping, falling... =(

I am so sorry to hear this! Did they do a spinal tap to see what type of mennigitis? If it is bacterial or not? How is she doing now with the medicines? I hope she is starting to get better with some meds on board for her!

Re: New Chow Owner advice

Congrats on your new addition and researching all you can on your new Chow! I think the advice given so far is excellent. I just wanted to add that you have to earn their trust & respect. If they respect you, the will do "almost" anything you want them to do. They are extremely ...

Re: Walking in circles, limping, falling... =(

Here is the link Kiwana had posted the first time Bear had this problem. I am not sure if this is Harley's problem but it would be worth asking the vet about it??? Scroll to the sections concerning symptoms and causes of vestibular disease: http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_ve ... sease.html Here...

Re: Walking in circles, limping, falling... =(

I am so sorry to hear you girl isn't feeling well. Please keep us posted on her. With Bear, The first few vets didn't have any idea what was going on with him, but the last one felt he had a slipped disc in the area where his neck & shoulders meet. He was in obvious pain, his body was bent like ...

Re: winston won't Come, he just runs away

I also forgot to add that when I am outside with Bear and I see he is starting to wander away from me, I don't say come or his name for that situation. I used a sound like AHHHH, like you would to a toddler that is getting into something they shouldn't. I had seven kids so this was something ingrain...

Re: winston won't Come, he just runs away

I think what everyone has said makes alot of sense! I have been very fortunate with Bear and was only tested twice by him and he is 9 years old now. Once when he woke me up at 3:30 in the morning to go out to the bathroom and me being half asleep hooked him up to the wrong lead that wasn't at...

Re: HELP!!! IMMEDIATELY

I would highly suggest a vet visit for a complete workup to be sure there is nothing going on medically first. I would start with a complete blood work up. I am currently going through behavior issues with my English Bulldog due to a liver problem which they have not been able to diagnose as of yet....

He always had behavior problems since we had adopted him and all of the previous vets dismissed it because he was a rescue with a p...

Oh Wow! I did see on their website they had special parking areas for the vehicles pulling stalls. So do they allow you to make payments??? If they do, I wasn't told that by my vet but it would sure be helpful if they do!!

Re: Chow verses the pit bull

My Tippsy was actually involved in a fight with a pit back in her younger years. The dog was charging me and she jumped on it. He attempted to grab her by the throat a couple of times but all he got was a mouth full of fur and she managed to get him by the hind leg, flip him and held him by the thr...

Re: Taste of the Wild dog food

I have been feeding this to Bear for a good while now....probably almost a year and he has been doing great on it. I noticed his coat is softer & coming in fuller this winter than what it had been. I have had alot of luck with TOTW with both of my boys and both are doing so much better. Yes! I c...
