Re: Teenage Chow Challenging Authority
Miss V- My apologies. My intentions were not to freak you out. They were to let you know what possibly could happen. Not that it would. It's called a precaution. Dogs do bite, even non psychotic dogs. That's because, oh my, their dogs!!!! This forum is for anyone to write in with issues to try to he...

Excellant comments Victory, Laura, Cocoa. One comment- spraying your chow in the face is very, very disrespectful. This will get you nowhere with her trust.

Re: Teenage Chow Challenging Authority
I just had an idea when I read Chowpups comment on their vet doing the dips. Maybe your vet can dip her once a week if that is an option for you. That way she won't associate you with doing something bad to her. Then she would have no reason to bite you. One thing I do know is Chows do not forget. I...

Re: Neuter After Care Question
I know when I got Matilda fixed I picked her up late afternoon and was told to start her meds the next day. I would error on the side of caution if uncertain. If you see that he is really uncomfortable then I would call his office even if it is afterhours. They usually have a phone number that someo...

Re: Teenage Chow Challenging Authority
From the way you describe how the trainer uses the choke collar (really, really uses the choke chain), I think it might be to much. I don't think Slush much appreciates this. I think her actions prove that. She is trying to tell you I don't think so. As far as the bath if she has been ok up to this ...

Re: Not feeling well ??? how to tell
Seems like a normal chow to me.... This is not unusual. Matilda starts out at night upstairs with me and at some point in the night ends up going down stairs to sleep on the tile in the family room. I keep our house at 66 at night and this is something she has been doing ever since we brought her ho...

Re: nasty habit unhealthy?
Loha' sDad I had to laugh when I read this because my Matilda (7 months) from day one has licked anything that has a scent on it. The other day my daughter came over and Matilda was doing her usual around and around zoomies because she was so happy to see her. So, my daughter is standing there talki...

Re: Problems with walking :(
I most definately understand MissV what your are describing..... Matilda is 7 months old and within the last couple of months she has started pulling, pulling, pulling. She had no desire to pull before this. I suppose it's an adolescence thing. I walk her everyday for about 30-45 minutes and she abs...

What a handsome boy he is..... I'm curious is that collar just a regular harness? I ask because I have read reviews on this web site with regards to a harness called "Easy Walk Harness" and that kind of looks like it. Easy Walk is suppose to help keep them from pulling so hard when out on ...

Sirchow- It is not a critiscism of someones character it is simply an opinion. Rather right or wrong it is an opinion. That's the great aspect of a blog everyone here can give there opinion. Audeymay has every right to put her opinions on this blog, but everyone else also has the right to comment on...

Re: Killer Queen
It was at my parent's farm. Sorry to be blunt, but when you have a garden, eliminating vermin and rodents is a necessity. Doing it all natural is the best way, wouldn't you agree? Can't use chemical kills and still call the surrounding crops 'organic'...not that that is an issue. As my father pointe...

 I am not speechless. I found it interesting that you could read 'pride' into what I wrote. It was not pride, nor shame, shock or disgust (well, a little disgust when I had to handle the carcass...). Just the facts. If you want to witness owner pride in a kill, search 'Pip and ground mole'. ...

Re: Help, how to find a reputable chow chow breeder in the N
Hi! I have 2 dogs from a breeder in souther Missouri that will ship pups. He is a dedicated dog breeder (pet only) and his dogs are registered with United All Breed Registry. His pups are reasonably priced and his breeding facility is spotless. The website is rhrchowchow.com. His name is Bob Twedt ...

I feel your pain as we put our 11year old down last week "Duff" . It will get better and as the days go on you will only remember the good things. Stay occupied and do your best not to dwell on the sad events. Poor Albertz and may he run with Duff Duff were ever they are. Steve Swerve- I ...

Re: protective of his rawhide chew
I think first off- it looks like to me that you were egging this one on. Anytime you act in a teasing way that's what your going to get....bit. And then for him to growl, seriously, you had to know what the end result would be. Personally I don't see why you would need to intervene with his chewing, ...
