Hi Jeff! I'm back! Angel is GREAT. The cancer we had removed over the summer has stayed gone (so far so good!!) and she hasn't stopped being her wonderful little self! Her allergies have been outrageous this year... lots of itchy skin, runny eyes, and benedryll... We just found out, too, that she is...

I asked my vet this question once. She said "Most dogs live to eat! Chows eat to live!" He/She will eat when hungry! :)

Re: "This was my second opinion..." I counted it as your first consult with a specialist, an oncologist. The way I understand this thread, is that the first oncologist, who your vet referred you to, was too booked up to even see you this month. There may be a reason why your vet didn't refer you to...

This was my second opinion... I will research some more, but I am certian that I will find the same results. Juniper: thanks for the info on natural healings. I know some people are skeptical, but the world around us acts in such crazy ways. I will look into those, too. The vet also mentinoed that A...

Okay everybody. Here's the breakdown: It's a tiny tumor in the front of her mouth. This is both good and bad and then bad again.... Bad because it oral cancer in dogs is almost always malignant. Good because it can be removed by taking off part of her snout. Bad again because with the cost of the su...

Hi Layla.... We had a Golden who had a seizure condition. Do you think the scar on his head CAUSED the seizures? Or do you think someone tried to do surgery to correct them?? Cliff's were so bad he died from one.... He was on potassium bromide morning and night. It caused him to gain a lot of weight...

Thanks for the suggestions, Deb. I did call around and was able to get her into another referral hospital in a town that is even closer. We'll be going this Friday. I am very hesitant of treatments that will harm her... So I hope we can find a manageable solution. I'm sorry you're going through this...

Alright.... Well I called the oncologist to set up a consulte.

They can't take me until August 31st! It seems that if she only has 3-6 months to live (as my vet said) they should probably try to see her sooner than that!

I'll be calling around today....

Definitely will....

I know many of you have children/have had pets for a long time. This is the first time in my life that my baby's health depends on my decisions alone. It's great to know you are all here with me, leading the way.

Thank you.

I did read that antibotoics fight agaisnt chemo treatment because they cause the cells to grow (good and bad) cancelling out any work the chemo does.

I also read that adding fish oil to her diet may be beneficial (in omega 3 form)...

Still waiting to hear from the oncologist.

Alright... I had a talk with the vet... She is referring me to the oncologist and we go from there. She said with out treatment Angel's prognosis is 3-6 months. I'm following Jeff's advice and not letting this get to me. Who knows the real span. I am trying to patiently wait for the oncologist to ca...

Thanks again everyone.... It really means so much to know that you are all thinking of us. I will certainly research Jeff's suggestions as well as Mo Mo's... It is cancer...

Well, I found out today: Angel's cancer is in fact, oral melanoma cancer. I missed the call from the vet as I was at work and will be consulting with her tomorrow about my options. I researched it and discovered many disheartening things... I guess my options are to treat (expensively), let it go an...

Cute Cheri!! Angel and Cliffy never had problems with food... It was so easy! I wonder why she's chosing to act this way with Ripley and not Cliff??

I will definitely read Bama's thread... I'll have to find it.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks, David... I think you're right... I've been working like crazy, too, so she's been staying with my boyfriend often (where Ripley lives). This didn't used to be a problem, but suddenly she is displaying so many bad behaviors. I'll make some time for just her this weekend... Any other advice?

Asserting Dominance... Need Advice

UGH... So many things have been going on in Angel's little life and I think she is feeling a little subordinate... and is trying to reassert herself as the only child. Yesterday she had her tumor removed (we find out in a week if it is benign.... Please keep thinking of us...) and was pretty good at...
