That second picture is priceless! I love the two of them side by side waiting for the mailman. Too cute.

I think the second one is absolutely gorgeous, it shows her eyes, her shiny coat and her tongue. That's my opinion. But in any of the pictures she's just lovely so you really can't go wrong. (Of course it's easy for me to say, I'm sure I'd have an equally hard time picking a photo for myself which i...

That't an idea, maybe I could rent him out.....that would help us with the ongoing sod expenses I can see coming. It sounds like your chows are actually going after something though, it seems like TiVo is just enjoying ripping out the grass. Though (hope no ones snacking right now) he does seem to e...

A chow thing?

TiVo loves to pull grass out by its roots. He doesn't eat it he just lays in the grass and tugs away. It's pretty cute, but he can clear a nice sized spot in no time at all. None of my other dogs have ever bothered with grass. So, is it a chow thing or just a TiVo thing?

Thanks for the info, that makes sense. I doubt that he really had an opportunity to play outside of a very small area before he came to us. We did just get him a ball that makes sounds on impact and lights up that he really likes so I will try using that and see if it makes a difference.

Eyesight question

OK, I really have two questions: First, it's been a long time since I've had a puppy. TiVo is 5 months old, does his puppy vision differ from what it will be when he's an adult? For instance when I'm tossing his ball just a few feet he's very good at finding it but if I throw it further he doesn't s...

That's a great page. I do some scrapbooking myself though nothing digital so far, I've started doing my cards digital though and with my new puppy should have some good pics to use as the months go by. (I'm hoping to get him to wear a pair of antlers long enough to snap a photo I can use for a C'Mas...

She's a beautiful pup! I just got my pup a few weeks ago but he was already four months old, five months now, so we've missed out on some of the early puppy antics. It will be fun to hear what Luna is up to. Though like yours TiVo is really giving our cats a run for their money as well. He is gettin...

How wonderful! We got the puppyfish for TiVo and he loves it. He's been chewing on it for a good 3 weeks now and no parts have broken off or anything. I tried another flavored puppy bone like a nyla bone but he worked at it so much that it pretty much desintegrated. Have fun on Sunday.

When our mal was six months old he was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. We had taken him to the vet because he was bunny hopping when he ran and when you watched him walk from behind his hips had a very loose wobble to them. The x-rays showed he barely had hip sockets at all. Because he was a giant mal...

TiVo's 1st vet visit

We took the little guy in for his first check up with our vet and he did really well. He let the vet examine him without any problems. I asked my vet what his experience was with chows and he said just like about any other breed there are good and bad but it really depends on the training and social...

What is everyone giving this to their dog for, vet visits or other things? I'm curious because the vet just prescribed this as a trial for our shepherd mix. He was a rescue dog and had been mistreated as a puppy and though he is a sweetie with us he has fear aggression when anyone other than us is a...

OMG they sound disgusting. I'm all for loving nature but they sound like more than I would want to deal with. I'd probably have to wear a hazmat suit to get near one. Good luck! So fr I haven't noticed TiVo clicking, but is it just my imagination or do chow's make a wider variety of sounds that other dogs? I have a shepherd mix that makes the normal dog noises and we had a mal that was pretty quiet unless he wanted to drive home a point then he would howl. Also, for a puppy...

TiVo's 1st encounter

This was just too cute so I had to share. I had TiVo out about dusk for a potty break and to run off a little steam and there were a lot of lightening bugs out. As he was doing his business he spotted this little light in the air and ran to it but as he approached the light went out and he had such ...

OMG, the "zoomies", that's perfect! Though yesterday, for the first time since we've gotten him, he actually laid down on the floor near my chair. I was a little concerned, I thought maybe he wasn't feeling well but it was pretty hot outside so that may have been it. I know with our mal, he was much...

Thanks for the responses. I went to the other website and then googled Prudence Baxter and saw another photo of a mature smooth coat. It does look like TiVo is a rough coat. He has the beginnings of a mane though not much feathering on his legs. I love the look of the rough coat but after I fell in ...

Meet TiVo - Smooth coat?

Here is our new addition TiVo. From information I've read on other threads in the forum I think he's a smooth coat? He's 4 1/2 months old though he only joined our family a little over two weeks ago. Hopefully I downloaded the photo correctly. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g54/RamonaF_2006/IMG_1...

Since I'm new to the chow world and my puppy is only 4 months old can I ask when I can expect this "blow out" to occur? How long is it before a puppy gets his adult coat? How frequently should I be bathing him? I had a malamute so I'm thinking this can't be any worse than that.....or can it?

Could use puppy advice

I've been lurking on this forum for a couple of weeks since I brought home a 4 month old cream chow for my husband's birthday (well, he said he couldn't think of anything he needed for his birthday.) I did what I said I wouldn't do and fell in love with him at a local pet store. (We lost our 9 year ...

It is hard and at least we didn't have any children to explain anything to. But, what a wonderful family that Tiocy is in that loves her so much. This is my first post tho after reading yours I had to respond tho admittedly its through a lot of tears. We just lost our malamute Yukon in February at 9 years of age due to a nasal adenocarcinoma. The tumor was up in his nasal passage and was so diffuse in the tissue they could not operate. I agre...
