Re: strange behaviour

Becky, that puppy is adorable. As far as getting my attention I get stared at for breakfast, stared at and pawed for when its time for a walk and then stared at for dinner. O yes I get stared at for when she wants to go outside into her $3000 pen that I had built around the back and side of the hous...

Re: RE TRAINING

Maggie is now 5 yrs old and i'm now getting around to repairing baseboards and chair legs that she finally stopped trying to eat my house.Everytime I give her a bone or something else to chew on she finds a place to hide it instead of chewing on it. As far as food goes my last 2 girls ate NUTROS lam...

Re: Looking for a healthy chow puppy

Just find a reputable breeder, find out when puppies will be available, visit the kennel, check out the parents.
Make sure the place is clean and get references from people who have purchased from them before. There is nothing better than to sit amongst a bunch of puppies and find the one you want.

Re: how to train my chow to walk better on a leash?

I have two obedience ribbons from my German Sheperd dog when I was a younger man. I could walk with her by my side without a leash. I am now on my second female Chow and cannot get her to heel without halfway stangling her.The main problem is I want her to sniff and enjoy all the smells on our parks...

Re: Loss of Appetite

First of all you should be giving him a well balanced DOG diet, he should still be on a good puppy food or a well banced young adult diet. On Dec 1st you are ready to give up on him, on Dec 2 you are thinking of getting a second one? Someone needs a serious talk with you.AND I'M BEING POLITE.

Whats up with the National dog show?

Watch the show last Friday for 2 hours and non-sporting dogs came on last of course. They passed right over a beautiful red Chow and didn't even show her being walked around the ring. One small glimpse and that was it.What a shame.

Re: Itching finally stopped !

I do not agree on the Head and shoulders, you need to nourish the skin with an ALOE based shampoo and fish oil capsules in his food. Some like Oatmeal shampoos also.

Re: Which Chow food is best for my dog.....???

I have been using Nutros Lamb and rice for my last 2 chows, I even put a large tablespoon full of wet Lamb and rice
into the dry and add a little hot water to warm up the refrigerated wet food. I also add a fish oil capsule to the dinner and her coat is gorgeous.

Gene, We spell p-a-r-k, w-a-l-k, just so she doesn't beat us to the door. We walk everyday usually in the afternoon
and I have Maggie staring at me as to why we haven't started yet. Thats why we love these chows, they will come if they WANT to. And we all know when the Zoomies are coming don't we.

Brush them at least every two weeks???????????????????? Are you kidding??? I brush Maggie every single day, How can you not brush a Chow Chow and have her look her best? I have several brushfulls of hair every single day. The Mats behind the ears would be a horror. Her face gets a warm washcloth ever...

Maggie was a show puppy that was used to being groomed. I got her at 7 months old and she looks forward to being brushed. I mention "brushing" and she heads to the garage. I'm lucky.

Re: tearing a lot??

Maggie's right eye was tearing when I first saw her and got some baloney excuse from the so called breeder that sold her to me. Took her to an animal opthomologist who stitched her eye without surgery, the stitches were left in for a couple of months with a couple of visits in between.I believe she ...

Lost my Chinabear after 16 yrs. Missed her so much I contacted several breeders in southern U.S. looking for a black female. Breeder in Atlanta was showing a 7 month old blk female in puppy shows around country. Asked me to come have a look and I saw the most beautiful little girl I ever saw.Couldn'...

Re: Flea and Tick Control for My Furr Kids

comfortis is the only thing that seems to work because I do not want to pet, hug and kiss my girl with a topical insecticide on her fur. Everytime you pet your dog you have a poisonus chemical on your hands. No flea collars either. It is just a shame vets want $90 for 6 tablets, between the vets and...

Re: Where are you getting Comfortis?

The comfortis you buy from the Aussies is made by the same company, Lilly. The australians are not out to screw us over a prescription. The ones that I worry about is my American brother. Don't let the Vets scare you into thinking the RXs are fake, they just want their outrageous price and profit. L...

Where are you getting Comfortis?

How are the rest of you getting your RX filled? $90 for 6 tabs from vet in USA. As low as $59 +$11 shipping from Australia. Something is definitely wrong if I can get an American product cheaper from a Company half way around the world without a Prescription. And save $20 to boot.Tell me whats wrong ...

I also voted you take her to DC. My thoughts are at her age she will sleep most of the time. The plane ride doesn't turn me on though, is that the only way for you to get there? I took my 14 yr old Chinabear to Georgia from Florida but we moved into a home and she was still healthy. She passed 2 yrs...

Pleas let us know how things go with the spaying. Maggie is going on 4 yrs and I have not had her spayed yet. Re: So how did you know you wanted a Chow?

I would visit my Nephews house for a barbecue and one of his neighbors would be there with a large black male chow. He would growl at everyone so they kept their distance but I loved the look of the dog. Walked into a pet store to buy fish food for my aquarium and they had this black female chow. $5...
