Re: pretty black male in Miami Dade shelter

That's so exciting! I'm so glad you were able to save Wolfie, he sounds like he'll do so well with you and your family :) I just love happy endings (or beginnings....)!

Re: bad food reaction to Purina Beneful

You'll notice a huge difference with the Nutro, it's definitely worth the cost. Also, if you go to Petco and become a P.A.L.S customer you get every tenth bag free, so that's nice, and they always send out 20% off coupons which you can use for the food as well. That helps a lot with the cost.

Re: MO cracking down on Puppy Mills

Honestly, if it weren't for the people, I'd move back LOL It's gorgeous down there in the Ozarks and I miss it. Let me preface my next statement with the fact that I am Christian, but I couldn't move back because of the legalistic, judgemental, hypocritical "Christians" down there. I think...

Re: New puppy

You'll have so much fun! He's so adorable! Buddha was our first Chow, and we also got him from a BYB. We took him to Petsmart classes to and he did really well, he was definitely a teacher's pet LOL He'd do ANYTHING for her, and NOTHING for us! LOL Taking the class really helped alot on training and...

Re: MO cracking down on Puppy Mills

Yeah, they are pretty lenient with all the laws. It did say something about part of the problem being how rural so much of the country is and that's so true. I lived in a little bitty town in southern MO, and I know at least two people who are BYB's. I have never visited, so I'm not sure what the co...

MO cracking down on Puppy Mills

This is my home state, right in the Ozarks, and I am so glad they are cracking down! Mo. fights reputation as 'puppy mill' State pledges to do more to crack down on bad dog breeders The Associated Press updated 2:47 p.m. MT, Mon., April. 6, 2009 SENECA, Mo. - When authorities raided J.B.'s Precious ...

Re: Annie

Here's a little Annie update: Her new family had a new addition. Erica had a baby girl two weeks ago, and Annie just adores her apparently, and has taken over as guardian of little Briella. Erica said that she does really good around her and hasn't been jealous of her or anything YAY! She's such a g...

Re: Need help!

Hey there! I finally got Buddha to let me look at him. I had to practically sit on him to look at it, but as soon as he relaxed he started cleaning it, and still wouldn't let me near it unti he was done. It looks like he caught the pad behind his dew paw on something, there's a small gash. So, we go...

Need help!

I posted here, because I wanted people to see it quicker. Buddha is bleeding...well he was, it seems like it has clotted up, but he won't let me near him long enough to find out what happened exactly, and DH thinks I'm overreacting He has a clot of blood behind his dew claw. I thought maybe he caugh...

Re: Rescue advice - long

I don't know if you remember the pictures of Annie when we got her, but her coat was in horrible condition, I've never seen matts as big as the one's she had. One of them was about 7 inches across, and her back legs were all matted up. Jean (nean) came over and we were able to shave some of it, but ...

I'm coming into this a little late, but when my brother's kids were visiting Buddha would nip at the babies butt and chase him around the house...we put a stop to it, but I was puzzled too.

Weather stories

We have a storm blowing in, and as is normal, they are very gusty. Usually Buddha enjoys a little wind, and the coolness of the air...I guess "little" is the operative word here. I went to let him out before I came back to work, and he went outside. I left the door open because I was going...

Buddha must be an oddball...he hates it when it's really cold, he'd rather be inside. It's been about 50 or so in the evening and I can't get him inside! He LOVES the in-between weather!

I can't remember if anyone mentioned this or not. I took Buddha to Petsmart to be groomed, and lo and behold, there is a smooth coat Chow on the poster! He's such a cutie, and I couldnt' believe my eyes!

Re: known symptoms

This might sound dumb, but what do you mean he's losing his hair? Is he shedding his undercoat? That comes out in huge clumps, at least it does with my Chow, Buddha. Or, is he losing it so much that he has bald spots?

Re: Moving overseas

I just found out that if we can get the flight that goes straight form Huston to Dubai it'll be nonstop and 15 hours, I'm hoping we get that one, otherwise it'll be closer to 20 hours, and we'll have a layover in London probably? We'll see. Buddha does ok in the car and stuff, so hopefully all will ...

Thanks for telling me about it, you are right, I'd feel horrible seeing Buddha stuck in a kennel :( We just decided this morning that we would be persuing this position in Dubai and I wanted to get everything figured out ASAP :)
