Need Advice from all of you Wise Chow people
First of all, thank you to everyone who has welcomed me/tolerated me/made me feel comfortable here as a non-chow owner, but a chow rescuer. There is a friend of mine who is having problems with one of her chowdren (he is VERY mixed), so I thought I would come here for hopefully some advice. Several ...

Do you want interviews with rescuers, animal control officers that had to save animals from animal hoarding cases or are you just looking for printed material? The printed stuff looks excellent so far. you may also want to look at the primarily cat sites too because people can more easily hoard cats...

Maxwell and Yoshi tolerate eachother, they can be together in the same room at the same time or outside together but I don't trust them alone together. Yoshi started it by playing too aggressively, Maxwell took it as fighting, now he just growls when ever he sees Yoshi. I would be very cautious, be...

Thanks for the help, My male chow is very laid back, not really agressive. Ideally I would like to have another male chow it seems as though they are better tempered than the females. I had the female and male for over a year together, but the fighting kept getting worse. She would even attack him ...

I learned something new today to....
As some of you know, I try to find rescues for dogs at kill shelters and often try to wade through the sea of "chow mixes" that are really purebred chows with bad haircuts, flat coated retrievers, or another breed to try to alert the apropriate rescues. Anyway, this is a new one for me - o...

Do we really have to label a mix as a specific breed? When I was a kid (aging myself here) a mix was called a mutt and that was okay. I know we are a label obsessed society, but is that helping or hurting the adoption process? Personally, i don't think labels are necessary. And at adoption events &...

You guys are my heros for rescuing this sweetie and keeping her out of being taken to a shelter. As you all know, chows that have had experiences like this can be a little withdrawn at the shelter and without someone on staff that recognizes that they are nice kids, just need to be made comfortable,...

These are the actual pictures that were on petfinder,my girls were listed as Spitz/Keeshond mixes. you are kidding me, right? I know you aren't of course :) do you think they didn't know or they just didn't want to say chow fearing people have the wrong perception of chows and fear they would get p...

The Chow Police :or maybe "chow/not chow"
I just have to ask you guys. maybe its not a question but sort of a little rant. I do a lot of crossposting for dogs at kill shelters, etc, and am trying to get some out of the habit of automatically labelled a dog with a black spot on the tongue a chow mix. not t change the world but shelter manage...

Get out the tissues. This is what a friend of mine wrote about a lucky chow girl, and it mad me cry. Maybe it won't make people cry if they don't know Frannie. I have a big soft spot in my heart for the older pups like her. I just had to share it. Some people don't think dogs feel, but we know diffe...
