Re: My Chow Chow keeps getting attacked by other dogs

I read a while ago that chow chows smell different - not like the ordinary smell and other dogs dont like it so they are aggresive or ignore chows.

Oh Dear! It is sad - but there again, the old boy has had a good life and The Happy Hunting Grounds are good for old dogs! :) Every day is springtime and there is no pain. r.i.p. old fellow. He is with all the others of our beloved pets.

Re: My Little Lilly

I have not been on here for a while. Lovely to hear about Little Lilly and so glad she is a happy girl. My Matilda and Maisie are such a joy to us and they keep us busy and it is so nice. I have rheumatoid arthritis and it is getting more difficult to type now as my fingers won't always do what I wa...

Re: 3 Chow Chow females a recipe for disaster?

We had two chow litter sisters, Milly and Mabel and just as they were a couple of weeks off their 9th birthday, Milly had to be put to sleep as she had a large tumour. Mabel was broken hearted and we immediately looked for a puppy for her. We brought Matilda home and Mabel loved her at once. Then wh...

Re: Sock thief!

Don't have a solution except he IS a puppy and will grow up.

Yeah! Whatever - our two will pinch whatever they find that they fancy - so did Milly and Mabel and the first place we look if we mislay something is their beds and 9 times out of 10 it will be there. :D

Re: Leash help

Harnesses are best. I will never forget when one of our first two chows slipped her collar - don't know how it happened - when we were walking along having met our granddaughters from school. Fred had hold of Mabel and I was walking behind with Milly and I noticed the collar was trailing on the grou...

Re: Where have the others gone

Hello everybody! :D I have not been on much lately - just once in a blue moon. I have not been well as I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and it has been particularly bad. I manage to get around and take my girlies for their walks but my hands and feet get so very sore I just feel unable to start typing wh...

Re: My Little Lilly

I am so glad Little Lilly is happy - and you. I love your descriptions in your writing - My girls know where the squirrels are on our walks and Tilly especially has to wait by one tree in particular to make sure there isn't a squirrel up there. If there is, they too will chatter down at her.

What a beautiful Mum and what a beautiful baby. :D
You are doing the best thing. The greatest compliment to Lexi and remember,

"Say not in grief she is no more but in thankfulness she was."

Look forward to your baby boy. :D

Re: I am sad!

Thank you all. :) Laddie Dawson did have a lovely life. It is always sad when a much loved pet dies - but there we go - c'est la vie. I have not been around much lately - no reason really - just seem to be busy. The M's are fine and happy - bit fed up with the rain and a bit annoyed with us that the...

I am sad!

I am sad this evening. :( My daughter Carolyn sent me a message to tell me that her old boy, "Laddie Dawson" was sent off to The Happy Hunting Ground earlier today. He was a rescue about 13 years ago and they thought he was about 4yrs old then so that made him about 17yrs. old. He was a lo...

Bugle Call!

I have been meaning to post this for a while! :D When Fred calls Tilly and Maisie in for their dinner he calls "Come to the Cookhouse door"! He does not actually blow a bugle but calls it verbally i.e. "Da dada dada da da - da dada da da da!" It is so funny - Maisie comes r...

Re: Spayed Girl Chows

Thank you so much. :D You have told me exactly what the lady vet we saw yesterday told me. I asked her if the mucinosis lump near her vulva would press on her bladder as sometimes she has little leaks when she is asleep. We notice when she has fallen asleep on the garden path. It isn't a big problem...

Re: ROYAL CANIN FOOD

Thank you all. :D We have just got back from the vet and the lady vet we saw who is the dermatology expert was very nice and asked us lots and lots of questions. She looked at the remnants of Maisie's hot spots and came to the conclusion that we are doing everything right and to carry on with how we...

Spayed Girl Chows

I was just pondering on something my granddaughter Isabelle said. I was talking to her on the telephone the other evening and she wondered if any research had been done into the needs of a spayed bitch in respect of H.R.T. When a woman has a hysterectomy or post menopause, she very often needs H.R.T...

Re: ROYAL CANIN FOOD

Thank you all of you! :D You have confirmed what we have been researching. Fred got sat with his I pad and came up with so many things. We have decided not to change Maisie and Matilda's diet - modify it slightly - we will ask the vet what they should NOT have and take it from there. We have fed the...

ROYAL CANIN FOOD

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of the food "Royal Canin"? We have an appointment with this vet at the practice we attend who is a dermatology expert and we know she is going to want us to change Maisie's diet and presumably advise us to buy the Royal Canin food they have in t...

I will print it off after and have a good read of it. It does seem quite technical but I will take my dictionary to bed with me and have a good old read.
