Re: Chowling snores!
Brandon always snored - really loud. It's a chow thing.
He snored so loud that if we were trying to watch a DVD, you couldn't hear the TV when he was snoring, and when he was between snores, the neighbors could hear the TV!

Bellachow,
So sorry your first chow was poisoned. That's terrible. Was it an accident, or do you think someone did it on purpose?

Re: So how did you know you wanted a Chow?
When my brothers were younger (before I was born) my parents had a farm. My Mom always talked about a chow they had for 16 years that was the greatest dog ever. So, although I never lived with one growing up, I was raised to believe that a chow chow was the best dog there was. When I was a kid, we a...

Re: Irresponsible Owners!!
There also should be a leash law that applies. Are you and your chow on the sidewalk, and the Samoyed runs out of his yard to bother you? Or are you both walking the dogs and they come in contact with each other on the sidewalk? From reading your first post, I thought the Samoyed came out of his yar...

Re: behavior changes
Hi. Welcome to the Board. Have you talked to your vet? I don't know if this would be the case with your chowgirl or not, but one of my chows started acting really squirrely and it turned out he was starting to have small seizures. They were so mild that you couldn't tell he was having them, but he w...

Re: Unusual request for Chow Chow owners near London, UK
There is something those of us with chows in the U.S. and areas other than London could do for you. After you propose, if you would like a thread could be started on this site and all our chows could post wishing you good luck and congratulating the both of you. (We frequently post items speaking fo...

Can't help you with the Chow Chow since we are in the United States.
But I would like to say that you have excellent taste to choose a fiance that loves chows.

Or maybe she's just trying to test you to see if you love her enough to put up with all this
If so, when she decides she is yours no matter what, she will quit and go back to being her lovable self 100% of the time.

Re: Teenage Chow Challenging Authority
Miss V, Really, I agree with you on the muzzle. I always refused to use one, too, on my own chowkid because it wasn't the relationship I wanted. The first time I even thought about getting one was when we were in the basement and a tornado passed by very close, and I started thinking that if it had ...

Looks more like a cinnamon to me, but based on those earlier pictures of red chow chows like Nikki and Bramble, he may turn more reddish as he gets older.
Either way, he's just as cute as he can be!

Re: Question... heart murmur
I bet things will turn out just fine. It's not silly to be attached already - most of us are even before we see our chowchildren face to face. I suspected that was the case. I have seen breeder's health guarntees to take a pup back from the buyer in case of a serious health situation, but I've never...

Re: Teenage Chow Challenging Authority
I've been thinking about this today, and have a couple of other things I'll throw out for discussion. I think some of these are low probability in this case, but maybe if we all keep thinking and talking long enough, we will stumble on something, even if by accident! :) Is it possible the choke coll...

Re: Question... heart murmur
Oh my gosh - what a horrible thing to find out! The first thing I would do is have my personal vet (if you have one that you trust) call the breeder's vet and let them talk directly. That will give you more information on what's really going on and how it may affect the pup's life. Are you in love w...

Re: Teenage Chow Challenging Authority
I'm like everybody else - I think Slush is just totally and completely ticked off about the choke chain incident. Although it is distrubing that it brought about biting to the extent and for the length of time that it has, even with the family. I would definitely dump the trainer, unless he or she i...

Re: Chow friend getting older; behavior changing
It's hard to tell what's really going on when they may be in pain, because chows are naturally so stoic. Doggonwheels.com has some slings, etc. that are specially measured for your particular chow that can help in cases of arthritis and movement that is otherwise painful. The wheelchairs themselves ...

Re: Books about chows..
The Chow Chow Club also has some online information and some book recommendations.
I think their web address is Chowclub.org
Like TyChowgirl, I also look on Amazon to check book prices. A lot of times they are less expensive for the same book, even if you choose to purchase it new.

Re: Yogi needs your help. We need your help. Please look.
How are things going with Yogi? You were talking about maybe putting him down. Before you do that, consider that Yogi may not react the same in another household if there is a strong but loving alpha leadership from the beginning. I think your family should work with Yogi and hopefully it will work,...

Bless you for taking in this sweet guy. Sounds like now you may be hooked on chows like the rest of us on here! As far as helping him with his condition, I had one that was paralyzed in the back legs and eventually had trouble walking at all. Not the same situation, exactly, but I used a wagon to ge...

I'm jealous of your large walk in closet! :D P.S. My mother was very nearsighted, and one time when I was still living at home, she was walking around in the bedroom without her glasses on talking to something. I asked her who she was talking to, and she said she was talking to Dusty, her pomeranian...

Brandon just carried his toys around, too. Never tore anything up.
He liked them, but to him playing was carrying them to the hallway.
