Re: Just had entropian eye surgery
Its been 2 weeks since my Kiki's surgery and the cone is off and she is going great. Her eyes are looking great. No more tears and he little face looks sooo cute with those big beautiful eyes. I'm still monitoring her when she is playing with her brother (over protective mommy) but she is happy and ...

Re: Just had entropian eye surgery
Thanks to everyone for your support and advice. Kiki is doing much better today. We are totally going to order a soft cone. Even if she doesn't get to use it at least we'll have it for Goober when he has his surgery next month. For now we cut her cone yesterday and she can now smell and eat with it ...

I have been feeding my 2 chow chows solid gold since we got them last Dec. They are doing well on it. Their coats are beautiful and the don't scratch like they did with some other brands. But they seem to smell even after getting groomed they are still stinky. I realized that they smell like Doritos...

when is shedding season?
I'm a bit confused about this. As some of you might know I have 2 chow chows from the same litter. Kiki the girl and Goober the boy. Kiki started shedding about a month ago and hasn't stopped. Goober on the other hand is furrier then he has ever been and when I brush him no fur leaves him. Last few ...

Re: How often to bath a Chow?
OMG! My puppies seem to be very smelly after a few weeks they get groomed at least once a month. Chows aren't supposed to be smelly but I dunno why these guys are. They are inside dogs we go on walks in very grassy areas I just dunno why they get so stinky??? I was wondering the same thing if its th...

He is so handsome!!!! What a big boy! I love the pool picture and the ball picture! How do you get him to like balls...mine run away or huff and puff (pissed off) anytime I've left a ball for them to play. It's kinda funny

Re: My Dad is gonna get rid of my chow chow...
I think what everyone said here is really good advice. Its really important you explain to your dad that a chow is not like other dogs. Its a very special bread. This is why I personally love them so much. But a lot of people are not familar with this bread and don't understand their quirkiness. Cho...

Re: Does your chow swim
When we were looking to adopt one of the chow ladies said that if we have a pool we need to teach them to get out. I think all dogs by nature can swim but they need to be taught t get out. My 2 won't go close the the water either. I sometimes think about throwing them in and teaching them to get out...

Re: Entropion Surgery
I went through 7 vets and they all said lets do surgery right away. But my rescue person said that all vets say that ( it comes down to $$) and then they will have to do this again t re-correct because your chow needs time to grow into their faces. I finally found a vet who said the same thing. She ...

Re: Itching problem
My chows were itching too until I switched their food. I do solid gold puppy now and they stopped itching within 2 weeks. I also add salmon oil to their food. And sunday mornings they get a raw egg mixed with their dry. The fats and oils really help with their skin and they coat is just gorgeous and...

Your puppy is sooo cute!! I wihs mine were that little They grow up so fast. I have my doggies on solid gold food. It's been great they no longer itch. Their coats are really pretty. They just turn 1 year old but I think I'm going to keep them on puppy food for a while. They need the extra fat

My Puppies : Kiki and Goober
Just to tell you a little about them. Kiki is my little angel. A total mama's girl. My husband got her for me as a x-mas present. She was in a litter of 6 puppies and only 4 months old. We just both fell in love with her. She was just so different looking with the cinnamon and white coat. She was so...

Re: A CHOW RESCUE MAY BE FACING FELONY ANIMAL CRUELTY
I'm really confused. I adopted my 2 chows from Lisa Duniphan. She was sweet and very helpful. She had gotten 6 backyard puppys from the same litter. She said they were 4 months old and she had only had then maybe 2 weeks. This was Dec. 2008. We met at the park and she brought them we picked one out....
