You are in New York? Have you reached out to the Chow Chow Rescue of Central NY? They are a wonderful rescue who have helped so many chows of varying ages from all sorts of situations. Since this is your first chow, it could be helpful for you to have a rescue assist you if you have questions while ...

Please enjoy the lovely video Belle's daddy created: https://youtu.be/7rcQVv1HcFM This is our Tribute Tree. It memorializes all the chows who celebrated a ChowFest/ChowChowFest with us through the years. Sadly, there are a little over 30 chows listed on the tree. "Say not in grief, they are no more,...

Baloo is quite handsome! Member "Judy Fox" resides in Cheshire. Perhaps you should drop her a PM introducing yourself and take it from there, as she does not frequent the site as much anymore. She had two exquisite chows, Millie and Mabel, whose antics are well documented on this forum. She is now m...

Re: Rescue full blooded foster Chow! Can't figure out his color? Anyone know?
He'll be considered a blue chow. He was most likely kept outside because his fur discolored as such. A good grooming, good quality food, his blue coat will most likely return. Thank you for fostering him.

I have the washable pee pads everywhere but sometimes she manages to find a spot where there isn't one. I am not sure about trying the diapers she is so sensitive to changes. I use the waterless shampoo and brush her. She has a special groomer appointment on the 5th so hopefully she will look prett...

Re: Chow Life changes
Have you tried putting a diaper on Shiloh? When my chows reached the point of being incontinent, I put diapers on them to help them try to make it out the door without dripping inside. They didn't mind it at all and seemed rather to appreciate it. They are so dignified. I noticed whenever they wet t...

Praying for Clifford and for you. I'm so sorry this has happened again. I know your priority is for Clifford's health and safety. However, I would sue your neighbors in Civil Court for the damages/vet bills. Their grey pitbull is their property and they are responsible for its actions. My thought is...

Re: At My Wit's End
...I took him to the vet today ... and there's nothing more to be done. She said it's time. I'm just having a hard time letting him go. :( Really? He's only 9. I would get a second opinion. I would not let him go until all avenues have been exhausted. I'm not sure I would agree with your vet's diag...

Re: Bad behavior of Walter
I'm definitely committed to raising Walter the good way and I'm being honest to myself. This is my first dog so I will have some mistakes, of course. And yes, I'm currently looking for a professional trainer already and checking the link you gave me, thanks for that. Since it seems you are taking b...

Re: Bad behavior of Walter
This is exactly what's happening to me, I think he's not accepting me as a leader.... Where do I start to let him know I'm the leader of the pack? I'm starting to worry because he's already 8 months old now and starting to leave puppyhood. I want to inflict good behavior as much as possible while h...

Re: Bad behavior of Walter
I tried using a shorter leash to teach Walter how to not "pull on the leash". He seems to still do it regardless and since he wears a collar he loses his breath doing so and yet he still doesn't stop from doing it. Is this normal or should I be worried? I'm kinda worried because you really can hear...

I'm curious. Why is he on prednisone? Has he been on it long? It's not really good to have him on Prednisone long term unless there is a specific disease he needs it for such as an immune disease or Pemphigus Foliacious. His medicine/s could be the reason why is appetite is suppressed. Are you in an...
