I know our Mika is between 58-62lbs at her heaviest 62lbs...she loves her fishoil omega-3 oile we put on her food, her coat also seems so much nicer after we started that too! :) As for being bred to be eaten? I have only heard that one other time...most articles I have read indicate that they were ...

A new Pee Spot!!
Hi There Everyone! So, as I am sure most of you are, we had enough with the large yellow burn spots in the backyard from our girl peeing on the grass (we also have a very small backyard). So during our landscaping design, we incorporated a nice med-large size area off to one side and filled it with ...

White spots on lip???
Hello Everyone! I was grooming our Mika and I got nice and close and noticed that on her bottom lip where the fur meets the lip skin (3/4 way to the back) there are these white things that almost remind me of tiny larvae (even thought they are not moving). Any idea of what these could be? There are ...

Hello! I just posted to someone else that had itching issues. Our Mika had hot spots popping up all over and she was changed from Iams to Nutro - it didn't seem to work for her. When we changed her to Medi-cal Hypo Allergenic food, the hot spots dissipated and her ear infections went away! (Haven't ...

Mika started on IAMS too, after much info from this forum, we changed her to Nutro - that didn't seem to nix her problem either - we finally ended up changing her to a Medical Hypo allergenic dry food diet and she improved very fast! Stoped itching as much and also her ear infections are now non-exi...

Mika's severe allergy report
Hello Everyone! I posted a while back on the open sores between our girl Mika's toes. Breeder thought it could have been lupus. (we were skeptical but unsure) She went under allergy testing to try and figure it out. After more than a month later, we finally got the results back... The results? Sever...

Hi Everyone! Yeast was ruled out as they did a test - poor girl is on anti-histames which do not seem to help much...she sits there, looks at her paws and whines because she wants to lick so bad but we will not let her (she is so good...) :) The test takes a whopping 3 weeks, another 1.5 weeks to go...

Update: We took Mika to the vet yesterday and they drew blood to do allergy testing. When we spoke to the breeder later in the evening, they are suspecting Lupus - so I have now asked for that test as well. Everyone keep your fingers (or toes) crossed for our little girl! :) We won't know results fr...

Sores between each toe on each foot!!!
Hello Everyone!! So, for those who read my last post about our 1.5 yr old Mika's hot spot - it was cleared up just by keeping her off of it and putting the Variton cream on it. Yay! However - the plot thickens.... We noticed that her feet seemed very Itchy the last couple weeks...she was always anxi...

An update: Mika is doing better...we have kept her cone on as much as possible and her sore has now turned into a nice scab and the edges are healing nicely. Problem is: She is still licking her paw when her cone comes off (as soon as we take it off!!)....hoping she is not developing a bad habit...w...

Mika's Poor Paw - Hot Spot??
Hello Everyone! Our poor girl has another bout of what we suspect is a hot spot on what would be the inside of her "wrist" (as if I were looking at my inside of my wrist...). She has licked it raw - must have been overnight since we watch her like a hawk! If I try to touch it she yelps lik...

Ear Infections after being groomed
Our Mika has had some issues in her last 10 mos. We took her get groomed and a week later she developed a huge ear infection. The vet said it was caused by water getting in her ear, and we related it back to the groomer. Again a few months later, it happened again after I specificaly told the groome...
