Re: Any Advice

Start socializing right away, with other dogs and people. I adopted my chow so I didn’t have to train for the bathroom but my other dog. Every time in the crate when she whined is out her out even if it was 2am bring her outside and sand outside with her until she went. And afterwards brought inside...

Re: Is my chowchow purebred?

Check the tongue, when they are puppies I heard it will seem more pink but when they grow up it should be blue.

Re: Breeder recommendations

I would just do cash when you get the dog or cheque when you get the dog. I’m skeptical about sending money, I always like to see the dog or parents before hand. But I am unsure about the website if it is legit or not

Introducing Sinny short for Sinfully sweet

I adopted a 6 year old chow chow Sinny back in June from a breeder. Sinny was an outdoor dog but she quickly warmed up to me. When I first got her we actually had to completely shave her since her fur was all matted, so she looked a little goofy for a while but she made the look work. I am in love w...

Re: Please Help Us. We Really Need Advice and Help

There are a lot of back yard breeders, people usually get puppies from them because they are a few hundred dollars cheaper but they don’t insure the dogs. If it was a true registered breeder with the kennel club, they usually insure the dog for the first 2 years of its life. So if a genetic disease ...

Re: How to stop aggression or be more friendly to people

Thank you, very helpful. Yes at the moment it is just me and my mom trying to socialize with him. I’m just worried because my dad is on vacation, how Lucky will react. Since I find most dogs don’t really like men as much or are scared of him. He was an outdoor dog before hand, so I’m not sure if the...

Re: Is my chowchow pure or mixed?

I’m new to this group, obviously this probably won’t help because your post was over a year ago. So your chow to me at least looks like she’s mixed, she almost looks like a lab puppy but that could just be that I’m use to rough coat chows. If yours is a chow I would say she’s a smooth coat (means sh...

How to stop aggression or be more friendly to people

My mom adopted a new 3 year old male chow, lucky. At first when you see him or talk to him, he will growl. We fed him treats and them he was fine. But since he is a new chow, I don’t want to let me guard down and his harm someone. How do I make him more friendly? Or even working with him, to make hi...

How to get male chow to stop marking his territory in the house?

My mom adopted a new 3 year old male chow lucky. He was an outdoor dog but they said they would take him inside time to time. We want an indoor dog, we brought him inside and he started marking his territory all over the house. How can we train him not to? Any tips? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Introducing a new chow, female vs female

I adopted a chow in June, she is 6 years old and was an outside dog before hand. She warmed up very quickly to me with in 2 days and follows me everywhere now. Only bad habit is she barks when someone comes to the door, as long as I pet her when someone comes in she doesn’t bark at the person, she g...
