Re: Considering a Chow- asking for advice :-)
i have 2 indoor kitties living with a chow boy - truffle. he is great with them and knows not to play rough. only once did he get upset at Indy for trying to eat his boiled chicken and barked at him :P but that's all, just barking. truffle was more of a scumbag when we first got him though - at 8wks...

Teeth Care
Hi, my baby boy is 1yr+5months and his molars are just getting that yellowish cast/beginnings of plaque at the base and in the crevices. he eats kibbles, boiled chicken, some other types of lean meat on occasion and i give him as many greenies as possible. is that enough? i am SUPER worried about hi...

Re: Butt wiggles
She has such a loving sweet look :P What a cutie! Doing the loops is another chow thing I adore! My boy races in huge laps around the yard or in the living room when he gets these mad bursts of energy. He also loves being chased, so I tag him on his butt saying "I'm gunna git yr a$$, boy!"...

Re: Crazy Dog People?
Well I'm glad it's not just me attracting the local loons :D :D I still remember how excited I was to meet other owners in the area and be part of the community. After just a few times, I now keep to myself and come solely because Truffle has such a wonderful time. He didn't used to like other dogs ...

Re: Humphers Attacked
Yeah I totally agree that the dogs are completely blameless and it's the certain type of owner that is victimizing the dog and making it into a scared, aggressive, unhappy animal :( It's just that pit bulls have the unfortunate "pull" as the breed to give you a "hard rap" if you ...

Re: Humphers Attacked
Yeah, so many pit owners are total scumbags! They get the dog because of it's rep and intimidation factor and just end up victimizing the dog as well as someone else. I already had my own encounter with an owner who just walked inside a dog park with a visibly terrified pit ON A LEASH and after the ...

Crazy Dog People?
So I have been encountering this specific type of crazy ever since I got Truffle - the crazy dog person, the missing half to the "crazy cat person." These over-protective paranoids who appear to only ever leave their house or attempt communication with other humanoids in connection with th...

Re: Bed Jumper
Thanks for the response; I think I will just get him a ramp/steps because I really love having him on my bed :D And as for the kitties, Truffle hates cats, birds and squirrels when he is outside, but really likes the two Abyssinians I have, especially Margot :) He did chase them and bark at them whe...

Bed Jumper
My 1yr old chow likes to jump on my bed and hangout with my cat for 10-15min, he then invariably gets too hot and jumps off. My bed is kinda high off the ground, 2.5-3ft to the top of the mattress, so I was wondering if I should be worried about him hurting himself? He jumps maybe 5 times a day. Sho...

Re: How did you train your chow?
I used puppy classes mainly for socialization but trained Truffle independently. The first thing was to teach him to not kill our two aby cats and to not bark at them like a maniac. The only thing that worked was to put one of my cats in the crate and then lay Truffle flat on the ground in the submi...

Re: Chow Coat
Thanks for the compliments, everyone! Truffle always gets a "..that's not a dog, that's a BEAR" comment or kids yelling to their mother's: "bear!!!!!" funny when it happens on a trail, at a park, because someone shouting "bear" does not go over well  Also it'...

Chow Coat
Hi, everyone! I am a new chow owner. Our blue boy, Truffle, is just over 6mos now and he is amazing! I like to groom him myself and wash him in the tub (with my brother giving me a hand). I've been lurking the forums here and always read how long it took people to dry their chows etc but Truffle act...
