Re: 18 Month female Chow still pee in the house

She possibly could have a urinary tract infection. Take her to a vet and have her checked out.

I am so glad you posted. I enjoyed your writing. I use to follow your stories about Lilly and thought about her often. Always wondering how she was doing. Re: I need your help

I can totally relate to this. We lost a previous chow due to natural causes at around 15 yrs of age. It was always Nellie (chow) and Harley (Rottweiler). Harley loved her so much. Nellie ruled the roost and kept him in line. It was actually funny because you have this little 50 pd chow and 120 pd ro...

Re: 12 weeks old, suddenly peeing

Hi Buki- please have him visit a vet and make sure he does not have a urinary tract infection. We actually went through this when Matilda was very young. She would urinate right in front of us which was very unusual and not the norm for her. Come to find out this was her way of telling us. Good luck

Re: Recommendations for a training book

Brisco- Such a great comment:)
They must be treated as a friend and companion 100% of the time if you want to keep there loyalty. A Chow will listen to you because he wants to, NOT because he thinks he has to. Be firm but try not to ever frighten him/her.

Re: Colt is suddenly Growling at my wife?

Sounds strange. Especially if Colt has never had this issue before. Does he growl at you when you want to pet him? If he doesn't I would just leave him alone for a while and see if he snaps out of it. Maybe he's in a mood, and something she has done irritated him. Chows are funny that way, if they w...

Re: Chronic Hot Spots

At one point my chow went through the same issue. Vetericyn is a topical gel or spray that you can put on the hot spots to help with inflammation and soreness. This worked wonderful for healing. It will not harm the dog even if licked. You can put it on as many times a day as you wish. This was vet ...

Do NOT try Cesar's techniques on a Chow. You are likely to get bit!

Re: CAN NOT KEEP YOGI

I couldn't agree more with what Cam Atis stated. Very well said and very true. The biggest advice I can give is do not force yourself on him. That is when people get bit. Patience, patience and more patience. I'm sure he comes with a history of probably a not so desirable back ground and that is not...

Re: CHOW mix 15 yrs old hind legs

I am so sorry to hear this. My previous chow Nellie lived to be around this age (16). She also ended up with dementia and severe issues with her hind legs. They hurt her so bad she refused to get up some days. We also had her on Rimadyl and Tramadol as needed. That being said our vet first took x-ra...

Re: Going out at night.

Keep him inside at night. Matilda (3 yrs) goes out for the last pottying time around 9:00-9:30. When she comes in I tell her night night time. She usually follows me upstairs and plops down in her favorite spot. She will of course move to different spots through out the night. There is no doubt if I...

Re: CA - Looking for My Very Own ‘Annabelle Lee”

I just finished reading Poe‘s complete story. I was so happy to see he had found a forever home. Then I was saddened to see after 7 years he was returned. I was wondering what in the world happened? At least he was returned to a rescue group and not to just anybody. There is nothing as sweet as a se...

Re: Chow Chow rescued after fall into river

Oh my goodness. What a story. Intense to say the least. I am so glad this had a happy ending as well as being reunited with his owners. I absolutely understand how a 15 year old chow can get lost. I have experienced a 15 year old chow with dementia and it's a full time job.

Re: Quick Question

Ha ha. I miss those days. Typical puppy chow behavior with there crazy bursts of energy. Doesn't sound like anything to worry about. My Matilda use to go crazy outside in the back yard and jump into or over my bushes. I would try to catch her and she loved it. It would turn into a game. She did even...

Thanks for posting this info 612 guy. I just checked out this web site and they are $10 a bag cheaper for Matildas food, and much cheaper on flea meds for my cat. Will definitely give them a try.

Thank goodness you got her. I was so worried about what the outcome might be, and thanks for not giving up on her. Hopefully the rest of her days will be the best. She deserves it. Be sure to keep us updated and let us know what you name her. Take care
