Re: Pics of my new boy

Cats, Bull T's and Chows Oh my!! This is a combination I would be reluctant to try. You must be a descendant of Doctor Doolittle; talk to the animals and they will talk back to you. Maybe that is a little before your time. Very handsome Chow boy; may he have a long and healthy life. =D= LOL no I kn...

Toys for my new boy

Hi guys, I'm bringing my boy Illya home soon and I was wondering what kind of toys most chows like. I've heard conflicting things about chows and toys - ei, they like toys or they have no interest in toys - but I'm getting him toys anyway because I'd rather him have some and not be interested than h...

Re: Chows Not intelligent? Please.

I saw an article about that, and the same article rated Basenjis as one of the dumbest breeds, which is WAY off because Basenjis are expert problem solvers. Like someone else said, trainability and intelligence are not the same thing! Just because a chow chooses not to obey doesn't mean he doesn't u...

Random question

Hey guys, I have a random question for the Chow nerds out there: why do some chow chows have a more squished face and lots of wrinkles, and others have more of a wolfish muzzle and no wrinkles? I've heard the latter called "open-faced" chows - what does that mean?

Illya's Baby Pictures

This is my soon-to-be chowlet, Illya. (That sounds weird  ) He's just short of 4 weeks now, so I haven't brought him home yet, but I thought I would share a couple pics that the breeder sent me (I hope that's okay to do? If not, mods please delete it). Click to enlarge: http://img.photobucket.c...

Re: Questions from a potential owner...

I agree with Victory, apart from the cat bit. It may have more to do with the fact that my cats and my family members cats were a bit too old when I got my first dog, and have therefore always run away and kicked up a fuss, but both of my chows are CRAZY for cats. They dont hurt them when they cath...

Re: Questions from a potential owner...

Two males can live together quiet fine especially if one is introduced as a puppy or if both are puppies. It really depends on YOUR leadership, and your experience. What breed is the other dog? That will be a big determinor on how they get along. And oh yes, if your chow puppy is raised around cats...

Questions from a potential owner...

Hi guys, I'm thinking of adding a chow pup to my family and I have a couple of questions for experienced owners: Will a male chow accept another male dog if he's been raised around him from puppyhood? Can chows be trained to tolerate cats? Is it safe for a chow to live in Arizona? He'd be an inside ...
