Re: Powpow isnt eating.
First off, Welcome to the forums Snowpy. You'll find this place very supporting and caring envirnmonet for all your chow concerns just as I have. I just realised the other day that chow owners must share some sort of common bond with these dogs as they are all just as happy to help contribute to sol...

Re: vegetables & fruits?
Hi Tracie, Yes id like for some more info on PMR please. We dont really try to substitute his kibble but more on trying to give him a variety as we dont want him getting sick of the Holistic, which he kind of did when he was a pup. I even made a food timetable/schedule for our helpers so that they w...

Re: vegetables & fruits?
"Other edibles to avoid are: potato peelings and green looking potatoes, as well as the leaves of Broccoli, Rhubarb or Tomato plants"
We give our Chow boiled then mashed up ripe potato to go with his dry foods, he absolutely loves it. Should we stop this?

Cam, funny you mentioning this cause last week Powpow caught a rat too! He didnt kill it though as we got to it before he could bite to draw blood. Re: Male chow owners,HELP!!!!
Hi Rio, Powpow is starting to learn how to mark his territory too, i think this cause his starting to pee with one leg up and he pee's on the borders of our fence to indicate where his territory begins. He too just turned 6 months old. He doesnt wake up as early as Rio but he does wake up at 5:30 am...

Rio your right no limb is safe! I just got back from the Philippines and while I was there I got bitten by my Chow :( I must of startled him while he was barking at the cat as I went to pick him up. Re: Wanting whats best for my new Chow.
Yeah, that's very true. Fortunately for us our vet is a relative
We're now noticing his teething stage as he loves chewing on everything. Even our feet so I'll have to teach him its not ok to bite people. I think a chew toy should do the trick.

Re: Wanting whats best for my new Chow.
Powpow is only 5 days older (4/2/12) so very close indeed. If the puppy is given the shot does he have to stay over night or something or can you take him home straight away? I too am against having him locked up.

Re: Wanting whats best for my new Chow.
Your most welcome. My partner just got back from the vet this afternoon for a routine checkup and for his 5 in 1 shot. There the vet had a look at his coat, skin and weighed him at 5.25 kgs. He said the dog is very healthy and that there was nothing to be worried about. He did offer another shot whi...

Re: Water
Rio,
Thanks for asking the question as my breeder told me a similar thing but wasnt too sure.
Now i understand exactly why we put warm water, then drain the water with his dry food before we serve it.
