Re: Paranormal Chow?

It could be her puppies in trouble or she needs something. Most often than not, there's a cause. If it's the neigbor's television , well and good. But if its not, you better see what is it she needs. Sometimes, the puppies get lost and the dam can't bring it in the fold. Turn down the lights, and s...

Re: Paranormal Chow?

I see. I've been giving her soup, vegetables, some meat, milk, and i'm thinking of adding rice, but sadly it appears that she became picky of her diet. i'd like to feed her more, but she started to eat less compared when she used to when she was pregnant. I'm thinking of changing her diet. I've been...

Paranormal Chow?

I've been having concerns of my chow, Candace (gave birth last Easter Sunday) who's been barking every night. She was at her last 2 weeks of her pregnancy when it started. She would usually jump up my bed then start barking for hours. usually what I do is scratch her back or her belly (where she usu...

Re: Question for folks who use Flea/tick protection

Cam my friend :) how are you? Did you know that flea shampoos actually dont work? The actual thing that works is just washing your dog. I find that bathing kills some fleas, but not all of them becuase while you're washing the body, all the fleas run and sit inside the dogs ears. So sad :( poor dog...

Re: Candace is Due in 2-3 weeks..

Give her daily vitamins already and it has to have calcium in it. Give her milk to drink. She will refuse to eat at most 24 hours before birthing time. And will voraciously eat about 6-12 hours after she gave birth and would only drink. I prefer she drink milk instead of water. Any ideas which bran...

Re: Candace is Due in 2-3 weeks..

Thanks Cam Atis for all your responses. I really appreciate it!! :) This really helps. I've moved the other dogs and we almost completed her kennel box. The materials needed for the whelping are all set. I just have to warn the people in the house to not get near her when she already have her puppie...

Re: Now it's my turn, (Sigh!) Picky eater

I had the same problem with Candace before. I strictly have her stuck on Dog Food Diet, there was a time that she grew tired of it. Although, I got some (I'd say not so good) suggestions from breeders I know that just leave the food hanging around if you're dog doesn't want to eat it. eventually whe...

Re: Hot spot

I think next time I will try and handle it myself if possible. I was already there and it was my first hot spot experience. It looked so nasty! But...the 200 dollar bill...ugh. Most of it was sedation. If I could get him used them and used to the sound and sensation of clippers, it may be cheaper.....

Though, destroying stuff is bad - I have to agree that yes you have to punish him at some point. But wait, could you have anything that you might be missing out with your puppy? Do you play with him? had a walk on the yard? Some dogs tend to be really this aggressive because of the energy they conta...

Re: What heart worm prevention do you use?

how bout heartgard? I keep seeing it on advertisements where the dog only needs 1 dosage a year (depends on size, weight of the dog). Go to the vet to check which would be the best heartworm prevention they could give to supply your dog's needs.

Re: Mochi no!!! OUCH. >.<

Purebreed? DOcuments is actually a guarrantee that tells you if a dog is pure or not. Otherwise, You'll have to wait until he's full grown and mature--- then try to compare him with the other chow, are their features alike? Puppies look cute and quite deceiving. I got some suggestions from my friend...

Yea I think I've heard of that too. Would it be possible that Chow's would still need anesthesia for their delivery? or is it only for C-Sections? :?:

Re: Hot spot

My Candace was 7 months old when she had this. Though we went to the vet and was recommended to give her a Dog spray (Antibacterial Etc) twice a day, my mom and I decided to apply betadine on the affected area instead. Works faster that way actually (For me. since spray sound scared my dog and I thi...

Thanks for your posts guys. Yea, now I'm convinced I'd probably go for the vet. i'm just gonna need the budget for it. O:) So far, her behavior with our vet is fine, although one of the problems i see is that when she is put on a top of the vet table or any high surfaces, she has a high tende...

Re: Question for folks who use Flea/tick protection

Frontline plus at least once a month. if you want one with fast effects you can get Frontline spray. daily dose of bearing anti flea powder for your dog would be good too. You can get this at your vet's clinic.
