Re: Breeder recommendations

Well the first thing you have to learn is how to approach any breeder. Price should be about the last thing brought up, only until you think they have a puppy you really like. You can probably guess how much they will be depending if the show and how well they have done. Plus if they test for health...

Re: Breeder recommendations

I live in the Minnesota and there aren't many people that breed chows in our state. And that is also true in the Midwest. After getting Brutus in 2011, a big part of the reason I started showing was to meet Chow breeders and their chows in person. That was because it was hard to find a chow puppy ba...

Re: We have a new show puppy!

Cindy, how about an update. I saw the results from her first show and I've been there with Spartacus a couple of times. We just go to class and most shows he's good but others he doesn't want to be touched. We went to class today and was more comfortable with being touched then ever. Seems like he's...

Re: LOOKING FOR BREEDER RECOMMENDATIONS

Lo-Re's Chows live in Dallas, North Carolina. I saw they had a litter recently but don't know if any are available. If not, they may be able help you find one.

Re: What do you think she is a pure breed?

The standard for a chow is 17-20 inches and 45 to 70lbs. The females are usually smaller and weigh less too. There are not as many chows around in most location as there were in the past. Around here in Minnesota most kids have never seen one and their parent, it has been a very long time. So I thin...

Re: Our New Little Girl

Laura, you are right about that she probably knows how cute she is. Most chow puppies go through an awkward or ugly stage but not her. Even a picture of her rear looks great!!

Re: Our New Little Girl

Her first class was last weekend. It was an hour long and was really tired afterwards. She's 5 months old now and 32lbs. Growing fast!!! We decided awhile ago that her call name is Bee.

Re: We have a new show puppy!

She looks great but a lot older than 6 months. I looked on canine chronicle and the shows in Texas has pretty good numbers of chows entered. Have you thought about going to Nationals this year? We weren't but now with our girl we might. That and the following year it's in Florida.

Re: Our New Little Girl

Thank you Cindy. Her name is Mi-Pao's Rose Bud. She is already in training. She hated showing her bite but I've have done it since she arrived and it's way better. The grooming table she is very comfortable on except lying on her side. Still doing it a couple time a day. I tried the blow dryer on he...

She is one special girl from the Mi-Pao's Kennel that we picked up 10 days ago. I hope she doesn't grow up too fast.

Re: We have a new show puppy!

I now use imgur.com, so maybe you can try that. It's free and easy. Great to hear about your first show and Group 1. Of course a puppy with adult dogs is always a challenge. With that said, we did get a little girl two days ago. https://i.imgur.com/eZxvICUm.jpg https://i.imgur.com/HsGV5vom.jpg Reall...

Had a memorable weekend at a show. It was our first time camping with our RV and it went really well. Our friends camped next to us with their 3 chows made it really special.

Re: Spartacus our new puppy

Thanks Cindy, he's still a butthead at times but a sweet heart most the time. We my slow down some until he is 2 so his adult fur will be all in and he will be fully mature. Then he will be ready to compete against CH and GCH to get his CH. We are in no hurry .The last show from the previous post he...

Re: Spartacus our new puppy

Still at 18 months old he still doesn't have his adult coat. Been told it will take up to his second birthday. We were at shows last weekend and he beat a GCh for breed and then took a Group 4 in the Non- Sporting Group. Our very first one. Here is our picture, it would of been better if his back le...

Re: Chow Beards !!!

You could always trim some off the beard and it would really help. I've done that in the past so if you don't mine a little shorter beard area you could try it. Please post a picture of it so we can see what you are talking about.
