Chow pups! Advice
Okay aside from my boy Achilles turning 2 years old soon (picture above or below somewhere), I have some shop stuff to ask of you all. I am putting together a page or blog about Chow Chows and I'd LOVE your help. As this site helped me along the way I'd like to help new owners. Your parts : 1.) what...

i agree with everyone else. in the summer if you need take a water bottle and just dont over do it but shaving him can do more harm than good.

Re: Is my chows eating normal?
ambivalent I had this same question not too long ago. When my boy was younger he got fed 3 times a day, then twice and now that he is one year old he has started to eat when he wants. I provide food in the morning (7-8 am) before school and work and sometimes it is still there when I come home (5-6 ...

Re: What type of Collar works best for you Chow?
ChowpupS I would like to know if the "martingale" collar you recommended kills the fur on your chows? Thats if you have a rough coat chow that is. I've used one on Achilles before when he was younger but switched. And now that all (most) his fur is here I would like to put one to good use ...

This is my boy Achilles and his sister. They are both a HAND FULL! Nayla steals Achilles' food and Achilles patrols the yard at night looking for intruders. And he is not shy about making a scene but I love them both

Re: Is it true about Blue Buffalo???
I feed my chow blue buffalo and orijen (4:1 mixture). For some reason his stool was mushy and the orijen firmed it up, now he's good. But I have a few questions just because I am curious, what sort of horrible things are you hearing about the brand??

Re: Questions from a future Chow Chow Owner
For the overheating...I'd say in the case that you do get a Chow do not cut the fur. Though to us it may seem logical to take off, it is their protection from the sun and snow. There are people in South Africa with Chows...that shocked me too! If you get a black chow be VERY careful not to let them ...

Re: question about chow chow type
1. I will agree with Rory's Dad as far as the pricing. That is the VERY lowest I've seen for a chow. I'm not saying that its a bad idea but being sure that it a quality dog is important as it may cause you more expenses in medical bills later. But I do believe that the parent is a pure chow...maybe ...

Re: Which Chow food is best for my dog.....???
I feed my Chow Blue Buffalo and Orijen. I fed him Orijen but the protein levels were too high; though its a great food. When I mix the two, his stool is firm. I also give him him raw chicken strips and lamb bones with a LITTLE meat on it still. A site that i used to pick the brand was in the link be...

Re: Chow names
I was thinking of naming my Chow Zeus at one point, then Apollo...(Greek God names) but they were ever common among dogs and I wanted one that wasn't overdone. I though maybe Casear, Csar, but later settle with Achilles. I never aimed for "dog names" per-say but a name i like instead. So h...

Re: Lexi's err... "flattering" pictures hahaha
Okay because this may sound crazy but I was looking at your Chow and it made me think of my hair. To get a wavy texture I have to brush A LOT, the longer it gets the larger the waves are and the less visible they are! So this is the reason I asked. But other than my randomness, I like the wavy Chow ...
