Re: 3 Chow Chow females a recipe for disaster?
Our three girls (all chows) got along perfectly till about a year ago when Bramble and Isla began to argue and then to fight to the point that Bramble put Isla in the vets several times even though we took great care with pack leader etc and they were all well trained. I always said it would not ha...

Re: Post Patella Luxation and Surgery Care
Six days in, going for a bandage change today. She refuses to pee for a good four days and still have poo since coming home. We foresee this to be the biggest challenge ahead, as she's trained to do her business on the pee tray inside the toilet at home and has always been shy about this, and only d...

Post Patella Luxation and Surgery Care
Hi, My chow was diagnosed with severe patella luxation on both knees, the right knee has affected her hips causing hip dyslexia on x-ray, but the specialist vet detect no clinical pain on her right hind leg (yet), while the hip on the left seems fine, but he detected clinical pain on her left knee. ...

My Chow having cow hock like hind legs
My chow is almost 3.5 years now and have always had cow hock like hind legs. Had the vet checked it during annual vaccination once was told it was no big deal and will likely grow out of it. Another year came by and it seems to be getting worst, She seems to limp occasionally when she stands up, doe...

I been giving mine home cooked steam beef/chicken with brown rice. When I introduce her to K9 Raw Diet, she refuses to touch it. Even when I give her nothing for two days straight, till I relent and went back to steam beef/chicken with brown rice... It would have been a much simpler chore if she eat...

Re: My dog, Mimi bit my dad and now he seems hostile against
Don't have good advise, but I can relate to what happened. It seems like my chow does the same thing too, short of biting. My chow would rush to the door whenever she hears the lock turning, on a brightly lit scenario, she will rush towards me and wags her tail all excited. However, if the apartment...

I probably would give the "Thunder" sound conditioning a try.
Thanks thanks, hope it will work over time.

Re: Need advice on fear aggression related attacks.
I bought the thunder shirt, it was useful for the first two thundery weather and pretty useless now. They are fine most time, even eating together during meal time. My spitz gets aggressive with ribs or milk bones, but fine with main course (home cooked chicken/beef with brown rice). Just a crazy th...

Need advice on fear aggression related attacks.
Hi, I have an almost 3 years old chow chow (spayed) and a 3.5 years old japanese spitz (spayed). I had my spitz a year before I got my chow and they have been doing well for almost two years. They didn't start off well though, my spitz constantly fight with my chow when she was just 4-5months old (S...

Simply love the video! Especially when howdi jumps over the edge and ran towards the cyclists! I'm sure it wasn't funny at that point of time.

Such a nice story...
Mine will give the "puss in boots" look while wiggling her tail softly when I reprimand her for silly things she did. It just makes you stop and give her a hug instead.

Is my Fei Chow Open/Smooth Bred?
Hi, Been trying to understand more about the difference between the Open/Close Face and Rough/Smooth Coat too. The place where I got her says she's pure bred, however most of the time, the vet tech and some helpers from pet welfare organization will say that my mix has some chow in it. I reckon mine...

Mine first heat was around that age too, 6-7 months. I spotted droplets of blood and got worried as I thought she was too young and rush her to a vet at night and it turned out it was her first heat, (cost me abit for after hours consultation too lol).

Re: why do people think chows are one of the most dangerous
I believe its the reputation of Chow that put the sign dangerous dogs on them. Friends that cover to my place love my chow, but the nurse and vet are the ones that seem fearful of her. They never fail to ask, is she aggressive, is she bad tempered, does she bite, will she attack? But after spending ...
