Re: New Chow Owner Needs Direction
I had started running in spring for a 1/2 marathon, nothing too extreme. Trying to get training runs in and walking Clover was a bit much- (springtime was a little over 2 yo, going with Cam's description and you can see from my avatar, she is a 'champion' in my own mind, haha.... :) So I would take ...

Re: Female marking?
I have a female, yes, she definitely will mark 'her territory' when we are out on walks, or if we happen to be at the park etc.... I would assume that she would 'mark' our backyard if we had more than 1 one dog.

Re: Always Out- Summer Shedding
hi
thx. yes, its a constant brushing with Clover... I don't remember it being such a heavy shed spring throughout summer, so I am glad, it is normal this season, which a majority of me assumed, but figured I would throw it out there and ask
Thanks for the feedback!

Always Out- Summer Shedding
Hey All, Have a question.... Since I have had more time at home, Clover 'prefers' to stay outdoors in the backyard, um, I would say a good portion of the day. We have a screened door she comes in and out to be inside, food etc- at her leisure... , im home, not an issue. What I have noticed is that s...

Re: Sock thief!
My Clover has sock issues- nothing that has become a problem at this point.. She is a little over 2 1/2 yrs old and has been 'stealing' our dirty socks- she usually finds a fav place or sometimes 2 or 3... that she wants to put them.. Never damages them, just kind of, well, um hoards them. My husban...

sometimes I wish there was a quick 'like' button....
On the flip side of what I said of it being a mistake, if there is the slightest possibility that it was not a mistake, 'Ursa's Dad' is spot on with his response. Continuous training is always positive, plus it's a good mental activity for them....

Funny, as I also hadn't been on site for gosh, quite some time... Given, I have more time in my day, and nothing cheers up a job search like sweet, precious, puppy chow pix, I have been coming on here more regularly..... Oh... Miss Clover is good, I do wish though, sometimes she would tone down her ...

Re: Blow dryer
I learned by my 2nd hair-dryer as unfortunately , Clover and I need to share... Ha... She would tolerate the orgnl hair dryer, but only for so long... Apparently, the new dryer, it has a diffuser attachment, she lets me dry her even with the setting on high, I think bcse it has an even distro. of ai...

Re: Our Chow bit my wife
As for the future children part of the conversation- I have to say, Clover, who definitely has the chow trait of 'could care less about humans/ umm, she may have been called a diva.. - anyways you get her temperament with people- Has the patience and respect of a saint when it comes to babies, childr...

Re: Crazy Dog People?
I have to laugh Constantina- because Clover LOVES playing with small dogs. She's about 52 pounds.. When dogs bark, she is the 1st one away from 'that area'... And when she gets really startled or frightened, behind me is where she ends up. I also have known if there is any 'issue' arise at the park,...

Re: The SashMonster is a stinky grease ball!
Maybe someone else can jump in with the details, but I remember reading in another post, that sometimes they will have an odor to them, and it has to do with stress, anxiety- basically emotional. Overall, Clover doesn't ever really stink- of course she does at some points- but not ever enough to be ...

Re: Where have the others gone
I have to say, I never took time to look for the other chow sites. It does happen though- Clover as a puppy, and at the time I was also unemployed, so there was time, and everyone on here was so pleasant, welcoming and friendly. There was so much knowledge and feedback, I definitely needed (I'll sta...

Re: Crazy Dog People?
Honestly though- I have to defend the dog park a bit. I sat on our city's dog park planning committee for the last 2 years until I resigned the beginning of January. A dog park, is and should be a place where your dog can go to let out energy and socialize with other dogs in a safe location. Maybe I...

Re: Butt wiggles
I think it might be a Chow thing.. :) Clover definitely gets what I call 'wiggle-bum'.. When she happy, excited, or ready to play catch me (her fav. 'tag' game with me) I guess I also egg it/her on with that older LMAFO song ...wiggle,wiggle,wiggle,ya, wiggle.. ok sure you get it ha.. It's so irresi...

Re: Crazy Dog People?
In MA (at least where I am-just north of Boston)- they have 3 reactions to Chows, basically broken down to a .... 50%/40%/10% :) 1) OMG- I had a friends cousins uncles' brother- He has one, it was really mean. 2) OMG he's so cute, he looks like a lion, as they go in full force for a head pat.. (appa...
