Going out at night.
Hello, I was hoping someone can shed some light on this and offer suggestions as my chow (2 years and 5months) has been wanting to go outside after midnight these past couple nights. We usually let him out in the backyard an hour after he eats to do any business he needs to do before going to bed fo...

Question on my Chow's hair...
Hello All, I have a quick question about his hair regrowth. My chow recently had a summer cut and his hair is growing back just fine excluding the part where the harness is located. The harness is not on him that much maybe 1-2 hours a day at most so I don't understand why there are bald patches. Th...

CHOWS and pools..
Hello all,
During huge spikes in temperature my chow gets heat exhaustion is it wise to get him a kiddie pool in the backyard where he can cool off or chows in general do not like water? I ask because I buy him a lot of items he does not use: doghouse, doggy bed, some treats, et al.
Thanks!

Hello all, My chow is now ~1.5 years old. He has been very easy to deal just random freak out occurrences but nothing frequent. Random freak out incident recently: I let him go in the yard to poop/pee and I usually tie his leash with him so I can catch him and bring him in since it was ~11PM so he l...

I use a harness with a flap on the back when I can pick him up like a suitcase. It has been very useful since I can use it to tie seat belt and he always resist when we are on driveway to come back in. The brand is Kong and i have 2 colors red / blue Medium size it fit him since 3months till ~2years.

Helllo, Well my little guy was on Orijen for almost a year but the most recent bag we got he was getting random diarrhea. I assumed it was a bad batch since the retailer I got it from said their manufacturing company had a fire so production is slowly going back to normal. This is when I decided to ...

Skin rash pictures should i be worried?
Hello all, I hope someone can help me by tonight before I make an appointment to see the vet tomorrow... I was giving my chow a rub down when I notice something behind his neck it was sort of dry but pasty white material which I believe was semi-dry shampoo. I notice it was a rash building in that a...

Merlin, Yes, I have taking classes with this chow. The trainer I don't know if he was any good since these were group sessions and he would come help me for a few minutes and then be off saying he doesn't seem to be interested, work with him at home. Previous freak outs, were always the chow laying ...

Re: Chow random freak outs.
Nanouet, thank for your feedback...... I think my chow is becoming more aggressive he is barking towards my brother when he comes home. So now my brother is fearful to pet the chow since he jumps up and barks at him for no reason. Is it because the chow doesn't see my brother as an alpha? I find it ...

When I cook for Dim Sum, I sometimes give him brown rice along with chicken or beef.
I do the same thing I mix brown rice / chicken or salmon / some dry kibble.

Catis, Yeah he is my first chow and i worry about this dude..... he kept on waiting to go outside since he had diarrhea which forced me to clean his nail 100x times. So I made an appointment with Vet at 2pm today ~4 hours from now should i cancel it and wait it out? I know i am very cautious but i m...

Re: Nails and *Censored Word* Gland..
Cam Atis, I don't think its his paw hitting the floor. It looks like he is dragging his paw as he walks. the more shave down area is more towards the front top area than it being on the bottom. I will need to get him shoes since we have so much pavement and the closest park is driving distance. Any ...

Re: Nails and *Censored Word* Gland..
Cant say for sure, but the nails look to be trimmed to closely. It could be the concrete rubbing it down, but i think those would be some pretty long, aggressive walks. Its a tough balance. My dog has very straight hinds and almost walks tippy toe, so they need to be kept shorter, but his fronts ar...
