Choke chain and manhandling in training classes
I have my two chows going through obedience to get the CGC. Lots of trainers can test you. My group is positive training only and doesn't touch your dog, but uses their dog to model. You just need to find one.

I totally forgot to post it, but Elsa turned 1 on the 23rd. She got a happy birthday biscuit and enjoyed a laid back day

My dog is being aggressive.
I'm currently taking Elsa (she'll be one in about a week) for a manners class, just so she can maybe go on to agility. There are many trainer groups around that use shock collars and such, but this group focuses on positive reinforcement only and so far, the trainer hasn't even attempted to take any...

My dog is being aggressive.
She should be embarrassed. If the dog is showing that behavior you don't force it to do anything as a stranger... I doubt he'll ever trust her now

Is my 13 week old pup too friendly with strangers?
Love the description Rory's Dad. I have to say that while my male was cautious with everyone from day one, my female was a lot more laid back and friendly with everyone and everything. Now that she's coming up on a year she's a lot more cautious and going through a suspicious of everything stage. Sh...

You know, if he's the opposite of her, he may calm that behavior down. I know Ty has become less edgy with Elsa around.

Do I get a second Chow?
Two is awesome and they can be different as night and day. I got my second while my oldest was three and he still has the energy to play with her. He also is old enough to slam her if he doesn't want to deal. 9 May be too old, especially if she's territorial...he may make her cranky. Then again, it ...

Collar Issue
Not to hijack the post, but do those of you who use the rolled collars use them to walk or switch the harnesses? My concern is the typical odd shaped neck that allows our chows to back out of their collars.

Chow chow and relations with other dogs
I agree with both. I have a male and female that adore each other. My male can get goofy with other dogs, But it depends on their personality. Honestly, I can take them both to the dog park with very minimal problems. I also have a group of friends that have many different dogs all around the same a...

Any Recent updates on Lily from Me&Tess
I am also glad to hear of Lily's progress. I agree that the colder weather had brought the play out of them. Elsa and Ty have been super energetic lately. They've been running and tumbling about.

Always barking at people walking by
Redirection maybe, but it's super tough because chows were essentially bred to guard and alert. She's doing her job. I would work on redirecting and positive reinforcement so that when you ask for her attention, she'll respond by not barking. Don't expect her to not bark while you're not out there w...

Finicky eater
She is definitely more athletic. I let food down while I can watch or they'll try to eat each other's food lol. They are both on TOTW (she's on the puppy formula) and I forgot to add that I also put salmon oil on their food too
