Re: Should I trim his coat?

I usually just wipe my Nukes face fur with a paper towel when he looks wet(He is a messy water drinker). That helps a lot. He would not stand for wearing a bib. He's a proud boy.

Re: Patella luxation

Just wanted to let everyone know about Lya. I called the vet back and told them how much the animal hospital was going to charge for her surgery. I asked them if I could please bring her in and have them look at her again. Needless to say I was crying, very upset, and they probably felt sorry for me...

Re: Nicknames for your Chow

Our dogs names are Nanuq and Lya. Nanuq is a big cream chow. His nick-name is Nuke. We constantly laugh about this because he blows up all over the place with his white fur.....perfect nickname. We don't really have a nick-name for Lya. She is so unbelievably full of energy and adorable. Sometimes w...

Patella luxation

Hello all, I have been reading about everyone's issues with Patella luxation. My baby girl lya has been diagnosed with the same. I can manually move it back into place, but she is very active and seems to pop it back out easily. She was diagnosed with this before she turned one and then it was her l...

Re: Doorbell Reaction

We have never had a doorbell, but knocking was always our chows thing. We have our living room couch right by the door and our other chows ( the ones who have passed ) would bark their fool heads off. We would knock on the wall by the door just to get them excited and barking. It was hilarious!!! Th...

Re: Jealous...?

I agree with everyone else about socializing. It is very important. I had 4 chows previously, only one of them was well behaved around strangers. The other 3 would run and hide or sit and growl. We did not socialize them very well at all. Powder was well behaved. But Powder was also very jealous, so...

Blue?

Has anyone tried True Blue yet? I am seriously considering changing my babies from Purina One Puppy for large breed to the True Blue for large breed puppies. My breeder suggested Purina One for the first 2 years and then to adult after that. My breeder feeds their many adults this brand. I went onli...

Re: Could I give a Chow Chow the home it deserves

I have 2 6 month old chow puppies. We take them everywhere we go. They love to meet new people. As everyone else said, socialization is very important. And make sure you find a good breeder. I have four granddaughters and they get along fine with our puppies. We had 3 Chows pass away in the last two...

Our Story, Woofer was a male chow-mut (part chow and part who knows what..HA) that my husband brought to my home 19 years ago when we married. He was 8 years old at that time. Wofer and I took to each other so easily. He would lay on the couch with his head in my lap. One day my husband and I were p...
