Re: Life just keeps getting harder

Oh dear, Victory! I'm so sorry to hear about what's going on. I wish there was something I could do to help but I'm afraid my Minneapolis connections have been all but lost over the years. Please, please don't give up hope. Double Purple kisses from our boys!!

Re: Bringing up Baby

Pam and Cam ... THANK YOU!!! Yes, we're over the moon. At 22 weeks we're already half-way there. Next step March 8th is to discover whether it's a girl or boy (it's better for us financially to know for sure). Since we don't have anything for the baby room, yet, I have at least opened the door to al...

Re: Bordetella

THANK YOU for asking this question. We just spent $300 bucks for their final shots and 3-year rabies. We are planning to ONLY do the rabies as no other dog I have ever had ever had ANY of all the plethora of shots the Vet suggests. With Bordetella, then, would you ask for an administration IF you we...

Re: Bringing up Baby

Thank you everyone!!! I've got an appointment tomorrow with a doctor, who will probably also conduct an ultrasound right away too (I hope, I hope, I hope). Having a better idea of when our little bundle will arrive will help up plan and budget better. On the way home from the store today I had the i...

Re: Leo and Max ... annual visit

Exactly! It was a good learning experience as the boys have not visited any of our families homes yet. We now know that they won't be able to be left alone indoors so we'll have to plan our trips during warm weather. It also taught us HOW to be vigilant. I love your comment about "corners."...

Leo and Max ... annual visit

Leo and Max had their annual visit today. Max weighs in at 61.9 pounds and Leo is a mere 51.3. Pretty good progress, I'd say. (For those of you not familiar with "the boys" there are now 17 months old ... wow!) Their last weigh-in last May (after final shots) they were apart by only eight ...

Re: Bringing up Baby

Oh thank you Victory!! Didn't think about the receiving blanket thing and since I will be delivering in TC (quite a ways from here) Joe will most likely come home alone a couple nights. That will be a great introduction! I told Joe that I can foresee the moment when our little one grabs a couple tuf...

Bringing up Baby

Greetings my friends and chow chow family ... I have a been away for a bit but wanted to be sure to come here and let y'all know that WE'RE PREGNANT!!!! I know, I know ... the last time I said that it was in anticipation of our never-gotten Sasha, and then soon after we brought home Leo and Max from...

Re: Growing hair!

Our Leo (the blue boy) shed his puppy coat very quickly, except around the neck. Just the other day I took another big bundle of puppy fluff off. Max, however, has TONS of puppy fluff around his mane and a bunch of really kinky-tight curls on his butt. I don't force it!! Mostly because Leo hates to ...

Roddy is GORGEOUS!!! And, you've done very well to photograph him. Our Leo is a very difficult one to capture.

He's quite a hefty little boy, huh? Our Leo and Max are still hanging around the 50# mark and they're 16 months old TODAY!!! Happy Birthday boys ... someday I'll stop using months.

Re: Snow Angels

Same thing just happened to me, Pam. After our January Thaw and 50 degrees for a couple days we had a nice one inch lake-effect snow that covered the ground. The boys were especially frolic-y today with leaps and jumps and double somersaults. As I sat on third base watching them whirl and twirl arou...

Re: quick question about my chows :D

On a side note ... to help dispel your worries of being true chow chows ... only a chow chow has a butt like that!! Fluffy "skirt" (as I call it) with tail laid prominently on it's back. I didn't see it, but there will be a curl, too. Our Leo (the blue), his curl is much tighter than Max's...

Feel free to check out our Leo and Max: https://www.facebook.com/Leo.and.Max They are brothers from the same litter but TOTALLY different in body design. Both have the open nose but Leo is more streamlined where Max is more of a line-backer. You could also check our their videos at: http://www.youtu...

Re: Ming the Chow Chow :)

Oh sweet Ming! She reminds me a lot of our Miss Kimba. I came into her life when she was about 10 and she HATED me. When my Joe and I got married and then joined households, she merely tolerated me, but it was when she lost her companion of several years, Rocky (a dutch long-haired shepherd) that sh...

Re: Carrot K9 video

Our boys LOVED them when they were pups. I used to give them shavings but they would come out both ends, so we gave up on them. Occasionally, when I'm eating the baby ones, they'll ask for one ... but just like D'lion ... then end up disappearing (and then I find them moldy later). Silly boys!

With all the snow we've had and the fact that the boys love ROLLING around in it, our bath time have been severely extended. Good heavens, I don't think we've given them an actual bath in, ohhhh, maybe since September!!! They don't enjoy mud too much, THANK GOODNESS, so it's just a matter of smell. ...

Re: The Chow "Pout"

Me & Tess: I do just regular rice but use a bit extra water or a little less rice. When it's done I add chicken or turkey brother so it's pretty wet. Then, I mush it into this small brownie pan I have and put it in the fridge. When it's "cold" I use my pastry scraper to cut it into squ...

I'm sorry ... I got a big chuckle out of this one because our poor boys "peel out" every time there is a noise in the other room. Just last night it started in the computer room, went all the way down the hall, around the peninsula in the kitchen and didn't stop until they got to the slidi...

Re: First time chow/dog owner...

Well said to all. What I will add is that I went through this with two rather rambunctious boys. Yes, they nipped me when we played. My response was to Yipe! just as a pup would whenever the bite was too much. I would also say in a low, calm voice, "No no biting," as soon as they opened th...
