Re: quick question about my chows :D
In my opinion chows are the smartest when it comes to training (when they want to). It took Matilda just about two weeks to be potty trained, and she never pooed in the house. Sounds like you have it under control. Consistency, patience and love.

Re: WHAT TO FEED TO A 6 WEEK OLD CHOW
Technically your pup should still be with her mom till at least eight weeks, at minimum. This was really a young age to be separated. Were their circumstances? I'm sure some other members will comment on the food, but i'm assuming high grade puppy food. Not sure about the milk.

I love the zoomie picture. Lilly seems very happy with the snow and most important a wonderful momma parent that is spending her days with her. I think Lilly knows she's got a good thing going on.

Re: Poo butt
Matilda suffers from poo butt ever once in a great while. Usually only when her stools are very soft. Which thankfully now that she is older she doesn't have it that often. It depends on how bad it is but usually it's either a wash with wipes really good and then combed or it's a really good wash wi...

Re: Puppy mills in SoCal?
Thank you for your reply, no personal info has been requested or given. They really want this pup out of their house, asking me to meet them at a petco about 40 miles away. Rorys dad, my exact worries were due to the fact that from what I've read, socialization is such an important factor for these...

Re: Are chows really as bad as people make them seem?
Combination of breeds not so much has anything to do with it. You need to go back to square one and read about this breed. It doesn't surprise me that he snapped at the kid who grabbed him from the cat food. That's not the way to approach them and he should be taught this. He probably startled him a...

Re: The Chow "Pout"
Such a funny story. I know all about the "pout". Matilda knows every time I get ready to leave the house and she goes up the stairs and into my bedroom and pouts. I go up to talk to her and she won't even look at me. I give her a pet or a hug and tell her momma be right back. True to form ...

Re: Blue buffalo?
At one point I slowly switched Matilda to Blue Buffalo and she constantly had very soft stools . Stools never would firm up on it. I tried Organix (castor and pollux)and she has done wonderful on it.

What a gorgeous, gorgeous girl she is. I think she likes laying in the bathroom because of the tiled floor (very cool to her). We would all love to see pictures of her as she grows.

Re: Does Your Chow Frog Dog???
So funny when I read this. Matilda does it daily and i love it. My first chow did not do this. So I don't know why some do and some do not. Matilda's a pretty happy mellow girl. My first chow was more serious and on guard all the time.

Re: Simba, 3 months old cream puppy
I am soooo happy that you and Simba are back together. Good move on your part for having her checked out for safe measures from another vet. Please don't hesitate to ask questions in the future if you have growing chowdren issues. Lot's of great advice. Take care.

Re: Simba, 3 months old cream puppy
Ok i should have said taking advantage of the pet shop. But it is taking advantage of you also because it has been a week and you still don't have a concrete answer. It is possible he's keeping Simba because he knows the pet store will pay for a month of care. I would go get Simba and bring her home...

Re: Simba, 3 months old cream puppy
I don't know at this point. I hate to say this but i think he's milking it for the money. Nothing makes since that he's telling you. If it was me i would go get SImba and observe her at home. It really is doing her no good to be away from you at this point. After you get her home then observe her fo...

Good luck. I know all of us worry about our chowdren if their sick. From what you've stated I just feel like your not getting any specifics from the vet. Keep posting and everyone will try to keep helping you. I know it can be overwhelming and confusing if you've not had to go through this before.

Re: Simba, 3 months old cream puppy
The poop doesn't have to be solid before lab testing. Vet's generally do this first to help them see if there is anything else going on with the puppy. I feel like by know the vet should have more of a specific dx. How long is he planning on keeping Simba?

Re: A Run for My Money!
Judy, I couldn't agree more with what you said. I didn't much appreciate the laziness comment neither. What works for one person does not necessarily work for the other. Recall is great for some dogs but certainly not for all. One shouldn't assume just because your dog doesn't recall like you would ...
