How do I change my password?
I've looked everywhere I can think of and can't find an option that will let me change it. I had to request a new password today but I'd like to be able to put in one I can remember. What do I do?
Thanks for your help,
Tom

Re: Sushi will not stop biting!
On biting, we'd grab Teddie by the snout, say No Bites, giver her head a little shake and let her go. If she tried it again, grab her snout firmly, No Bites, hold her snout until she started whining, then let her go. It took just a few times and she stopped trying that. On running, we've always chas...

Re: Best Time to Neuter
Our vet won't spay or neuter before six months of age. Teddie went into heat at exactly six months. Our vet won't spay a female in heat. The risk of high blood loss is too great. So, we waited it out and she was finally operated on at 7 1/2 months. Our vet is a chow owner and owns two dogs and two c...

Don't know if this will help but . . . I used Skype on my laptop to call my wife when I was in Switzerland on business and we were able to do a video call where I could see and talk to our dogs. They knew it was me and even obeyed commands I gave them. I realize not everyone can use these things but...

Re: Potting Training on doggy pads and excessive whining
Teddies stays on the deck all day while we're at work. When we first got her we put out a tray of cat litter and when she had to go we put her on that and in a day she figured out what that was for and that's where she went when she couldn't get downstairs. Now that she's full grown we've graduated ...

Re: Cross country road trip with chow puppy
We took Teddie from Los Angeles, CA to DIllon, MT and back when she was four months old and the same with Arleigh-Burke. Both had received most of their vaccinations and I don't think I'd want to have a puppy using the Dog Park areas of the rest stops if they weren't vaccinated. You may be surprised...

Both dogs have been fed raw since we got them. They're happy and healthy with great coats and strong bodies. There are a couple of issues with raw that you need to keep in mind: 1. hygiene - we wash the food prep area and our hands before we make their food and then wash the bowls and prep area imme...

Re: Saw New Side of Whitby
We were driving back from Montana with Teddie in the back seat (asleep). Passing through Idaho I got pulled over by a State Trooper (10 miles over the speed limit). When he came up to the car Teddie leapt to her feet and started barking and growling. I told her to "knock it off" and the tr...

Re: Getting a puppy with 9 month old Chow
We got Teddy when she was four months old (third owners in two months - not a happy chow to begin with). After two months, when she decided we weren't going to give her to someone else, we got Arleigh-Buirke (retriever / shepherd mix) from an animal shelter. She was eight weeks old. Arleigh took to ...

Teddie went into heat at six months, the week before she was to be spayed. Our vet said we'd wait for eight weeks before he did the operation. It turned out fine.

Re: feeding chows how much
We do the raw diet. Two meals, 1/2 lb each meal. If she starts putting on weight we take off a little. If she loses weight we add some. She's three at about 65 lbs and that seems about right for her.

Teddie doesn't care one way or the other. She'll go out and lay down on the lawn and get completely soaked and won't come in until I call her then waits patiently to be dried off. She loves getting rubbed down with a towel.

This is the Teddie
This is Teddie on the road last year in Montana wearing her harness. It clips right into the seat belt and gives her enough mobility to move around the seat in back. And that's Arleigh-Burke on her right, a Golden Shepherd mix. They are inseparable. Teddie calms Arleigh down and Arleigh gets Teddie ...

OK, my two cents . . . We live in a duplex between a four-plex and a six unit apartment building. On the four-plex side, two of the units have children between the ages of six and nine. Before these tenants there were two families with children between the ages of five and fourteen. We have followed...

Teddie obeys commands she understands the reason for. She sees no point in the "shake" command so she simply will not do it. Here, sit, stay, down, up, off, heel she understands what they're for so it's no problem. Shake? No way. And "roll over"? You must be kidding. I tell peopl...

A couple of things . . . First, it's great that your chow is recovering so well. That's fantastic. Next, we have an alley behind our house and people throw things into our yard (glass bottles, empty food packages, soda cans) and we also have neighborhood kids who wanted to give our dogs "treats...

Re: need help getting my chow chow puppy to listen to me.
When we first got Teddie she was leery of us because we were her fourth owners in two months (long story). She didn't want anything to do with us and it almost broke Roberta's heart. I started training immediately. Every day for twenty minutes we'd do the run down. Sit, down, stay and here. I put he...

We have Stare Farm. They don't discriminate by breed. Tell them you have a dog and they may want to meet her/him before they agree to a policy.

We were at PetCo three weeks ago and a woman with two children approached us as we were looking at treats. She asked what types of dogs Teddy and Arleigh are. We said Chow and a shepherd retriever mix. She said they have a Black Lab rescue who was taking some time to get get over being abused but th...

Re: Chows and toys
Teddie's favorite toy is Arleigh-Burke (our other dog - German Shepherd / Golden Retriever mix). Arleigh loves her toys so when Teddie wants to play she makes a move towards one of the chew toys and Arleigh runs to grab it first, turning her back on Teddie, who gets to bite Arleigh on the butt. Then...

Re: Teenage Chow Challenging Authority
OK, it's much after the fact, but here's our experience with discipline. Teddie likes it. When we don't run her through her commands on a regular basis she gets sulky and starts acting up, not coming when called, etc. She's three now and still needs to be shown who's in charge. It makes her feel bet...

Re: Chow refuses to go for walks
I know this is very late in the discussion but you might want to check around the anus for any pooh stuck to the fur. Teddie had a little piece stuck to her butt once and wouldn't move for anything. Just sat there looking unhappy. Had to force her to stand up and take a look. Got the scissors out an...

Our ladies have been raised on a raw food diet and we give them a pro-biotic supplement for their immune system and krill oil for their coats. Teddie had hot spots on her tail a couple of times during her first year but nothing since then.

Re: Getting chows in/out of the car?
Teddie hops right in. No preparation, just strolls up and "boing" she's in the back seat. Like she has springs in her rear legs. We have a Subaru Forrester and a Volvo XC70. Not quite SUVs and not quite station wagons.
