Re: Chow pup, Pictures + Questions!

Hi Auddymay, Can you tell me more about your "swivel brush with metal teeth"? Folllowing the advice of a groomer, I am using a metal comb for the ear knots and other matted areas - but Georgia hates it. (She doesn't much like the rake either and has tried to hide both of them. What a little monkey!)...

Re: Are Chows Playful?

Hello Jen! I adopted my Chow 3 months ago. She is now 7 months old (almost 8). She came to us as a feral puppy very scared of humans. We spent alot of time socializing her to as many situations as we could but are learning that that socialization process will be an on-going one with her. She didn't ...

Re: 10 week old abused chow

I got my Chow at 4 months - she was feral and timid. We have done all of socialzation work so that now, at 6 months, she will willingly let us touch her, comes to our call, will meet some people and other dogs. In the first weeks, we let her be while she was in the house. We did our thing and didn't...

Introducing grooming to rescue dog

I would appreciate some advice about introducing grooming to a rescued chow. My 6 month puppy is a rescued dog and came to me as a timid feral puppy. We have worked very hard on socialization over the past 2 months so that she is now comfortable with us touching her and will come to us to greet us. ...

Re: Anybody feel raw diet in here?

I feed my puppy raw diet and have done so since adopting her from a rescue where they started her on raw. She gets a wide range of meats including pork riblets, ground beef or turkey or pork or chicken, stewing beef, ham hocks, chicken breasts and thighs, pork loin, pork liver and heart, mackerel an...

How to get a chow puppy to play

My 5+ month puppy is from an abused background - she was feral when we got her and we have been working hard with her to overcome her fear of people. She is getting to the point where she wags her tail at us, comes to stand beside us and does a "playbow" on occasion. She lets us pet her, rub her, an...

Re: Puppy not eating

Thanks Victory! Since I posted, her diarrhera is mostly gone but she has few poops and today, she was vomiting in the car. Her appetite is still small. We went to the vet who indicated that she is bascially very healthy for her age and situation but could stand to gain a few pounds. She has also had...

Puppy not eating

I would appreciate some advice on my 5 month chowling. She was adopted from a rescue and has had much stress in her young life (born in a puppy mill, living with hundred dogs with infrequent feeding, removed from the puppy mill, transported to rescue, spayed, taken away from her mother and brother, ...
