I believe i have read somewhere that some of the emperors in the far east actually had kennels with over 1000 chows that were used for fighting and hunting. Dogs of war. I wonder how much emphasis they put on good breeding habits. Would we consider this a mill. However, i never realized that all the...

I have had Cody done maybe 3 times. The first 2 times looked pretty good. third time was by a different groomer and i hated to take him out he looked so bad. They say the hair is insulating but cody was an insider so I opted to have it done. Plus we walked alot in the county park and he was always b...

Great looking Chow, Brisco
Nice to see some vintage chow pics. My Cody has weighed around 45 pounds his whole life. We like to think of him as travel size. Room for 2 car seats and a chow in the middle. Have a great weekend everyone :D

I've never had Cody in formal training, just what we work on together in the house or in the yard. I always encourage everyone to just treat Cody like another human. We have alot of young neices and nephews come over and they are all to the point where they just say hey to him and go about their bus...

I have 3 and 4 year old daughters and a 12 year young male chow. He was 8 years old when we brought our first baby home. No troubles at all. He never really showed too much interest in them. We have several pics of the baby girls with him laying on the couch beside them. Kinda odd for him because he...

my cody seems to be very catlike. Doesnt like to get his feet wet. We used to let him sit on the front porch and in the winter, all the neighborhood cats would come over and hang out on the porch with him. Some of them would actually snuggle up on him. sick-o

Cody wanted me to pass along many thanks to everyone. He got to go to the park this past weekend. You know, as he grows older, I notice him sleeping in a little later, laying around being lazy a little more and generally just taking it easy. Just mention the word PARK around him and he acts like a 6...

Once again, thanks everybody. We are planning to take him to one of his favorite special places this weekend. If the weather is nice. Brown Co. St park near nashville IN. it has enough trails, wild smells to investigate and familys grilling out to keep him occupied all day.

When I use a collar with Cody, I use a rolled oil leather collar. Doesnt leave ring around the neck as bad. He doesnt wear it in the house though. We keep it hanging by the door with his leash. when we travel with him, i will usually put a harness on him. good luck

Probably like everyone said a food allergy. I've actually followed the crowd and am experimenting with the nurto dog food. I had fed cody eukanuba for 11 1/2. I think i do see less hairballs on the carpet than before after only 2 weeks. He doesnt seem to take to it like his eukanuba but i think he i...

The forums are the best. So much has changed since most of the good books came out. Some of my favorites are "the world of the Chow chow" , The book of the chow chow". I thought both of them were excellent. Great pictures. I enjoy looking for relatives of cody in them. The Chow annual...

I think my cody is kinda the same. I think he thinks i am the alpha male and he is number 2. Then my wife and kids fall in after him. He will bark at my wife for treats but hardly ever me. He waits by the front door for me to come home from work, doesnt leave the bedroom until i get out of bed. But ...

Great pics. Cody used to like to sit on the console in the front seat. He would try to rest his head against the steering wheel. When i couldnt get him to stop, he got demoted to either the back seat or front passenger. He does love a ride though. Its harder to take him now that my backseat is full ...
