don't overlook the obvious like runny eyes which is probably a sign of entropian. most times it can be corrected with surgery assuming the surgeon has proper experience.

Re: Fostering an Intact Male - Help!

just another thought...being a stray maybe he's trying to not get "lost" again.
and sadly don't forget these "strays" don't always run away. I think most times they're kicked out for their bad traits. in grizz's case that may be peeing on everything.

Re: Fostering an Intact Male - Help!

as far as the humping he may but it won't be *Censored Word*. males also do this to show dominance. sometimes even male to male and no it's not gay it's just dominance.
our boys were neutered at six months and never humped.

Re: 2 boys together?

we had six at one time. the parents and 2 male pups and 2 female pups. we kept the father away from them as the mom showed aggression toward him as he tried to near. He could've killed everyone if he wanted but for whatever law of the jungle he respected her request and didn't force the issue. They ...

From "sixchows" to no chows :(

Hi everyone Haven't been around in awhile. Yeah life gets in the way sometimes. Maybe some of the long time members remember me. So about 2 weeks we had to put down our last "baby", Xena at 13 years old due to a bleeding cancerous stomach mass that couldn't be treated. She would have been ...

I agree with you 100%! OJ is the same.Doesn't really like to be touched at all. We have him 9 years this coming October. He is a 1000% better now but still like you say some if not most of that improvement is from us knowing when and how we can approach him.

Chris Tell Mike to keep kicking Steel and he'll wish Steel would growl! What will happen is Steel will just bite w/o warning if he gets kicked, shoved, nugded, or whatever you want to call it. If Steel gets to that point, you will have serious problems. You'll either be letting him have his way more...

Jeff I'd have to say Pekoe did the right thing! How would you feel if that woman wasn't your daughter's friend but rather someone there to do you harm? Age related? Sounds like Pekoe has all her faculties even with the cancer and drugs! Smart enough to not let anyone she doesn't know get too close t...

OJ will get the end of the cerial sometimes. He is also crazy for ice cream! We had an ice cream man that used to come by and OJ and Nala would run to the house and pound on the door and run back to the fence and bark at the ice cream man! We used to buy them small vanilla cups. It was like watching...

Of our 5 only OJ has these "rituals". He will eat down to a certain level leaving about 1/3 of his food. He won't eat from that bowl until we fill it again, always leaving about 1/3 in the bottom. The only time he will empty the dish is when he sees a new full bag come into the house! Some...

I heard sprinkling sugar over the area helps, but I've never tried it. For me it would be a futile attempt. All 3 males pee over the 2 females spots. The grass doesn't stand a chance. But I have noticed that with all the rain here lately in the northeast, there aren't many brown spots this year. So ...

FWIW OJ used to do the same when we first found him. He had certain "triggers", such as another dog walking outside "HIS" fence. Another trigger was if there was a female in season around. When Nala would go into heat he would lose his mind! Out of frustration in both cases he wo...

Here's the parrot... http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y37/sixchows/IM000562.jpg Hard to believe they survive here in NY. The Evil Xena Strikes Again!

We're just sitting in the house finally getting a chance to relax and Xena and Zim are out in the yard. Next thing we hear this horrible sound. Kind of a cross between an animal hissing and a scream. At first I thought they had another raccoon or possum. We run out to get them and find Xena had caug...
