Help with new chow owner who is clueless
I found out from my vet that they have a new client who purchased a chow puppy at 6 weeks old. This might even be this person's FIRST DOG. This puppy is now 12 weeks old and a prissy, snotty little thing that is already nipping at people's shins if she feels they are ignoring her (insert collective ...

Re: Kaiah -- deaf and blind chow rescued in Florida
I received the sad news that due to continuing seizures Kaiya went to the Rainbow Bridge this morning. She was suffering so much and her seizures just were not getting any better, so it was with the permission of the fosters and the recommendation of the vet, that they let her go peacefully. RIP swe...

Re: Kaiah -- deaf and blind chow rescued in Florida
I'm getting the information second hand so the valium might not be correct. I will let the rescue know about the phenobarbitol. Yeah, Merlin, the rescue group and I said the same thing about the owners. Didn't want to pay the vet bill. There aren't words strong enough for how I feel about this.

Re: Kaiah -- deaf and blind chow rescued in Florida
Kaiya has taken a bad turn. She is experiencing seizures and is currently on valium for that and stomach problems. The vet said it is affecting her quality of life. it doesn't look good.

Kaiah -- deaf and blind chow rescued in Florida
Hi everyone! Recently you may have read a story about a blind and deaf chow dumped at a shelter. Fortunately, she was rescued and while she seems to have her ups and downs she has a very loving forever home and a rescue that is going to pay for all food and medical care for her entire life! For what...

Re: Is this shedding normal?
I'm going through the same thing with Dargo. I'm beginning to wonder if our chows are getting thicker summer coats because we leave them inside during the summer with the AC blasting and I know this was a hot summer for a lot of people. I know he usually blows his undercoat out around this time of y...

I had no idea that growing out the fur takes hormone power. Is that true in all breeds and is that true in males as well as females?

Re: MY FIRST AND LAST BEAUTIFUL CHOW
Denny, my Great Pyr mix, is a barker and when he hears other dogs barking even if he's inside the house, he will start growling. If he doesn't stop after the first warning, I yell, "Upstairs!" That's time out and up he goes. I keep a fan on in that room to drown out the noise. I think it h...

Re: bald patches
Sometimes they have allergies. Have you had an allergy test done? Also, is something wrong on her back that may be hurting her? I'd have the vet do a complete checkup. She sure is a beauty.

Re: How many Chowdren do you own ?
I have two dogs but am considering getting another chow that is currently in foster. For those of you who have had more than two dogs, is there a big difference between two versus three dogs?

Re: Chow thing, SNORTING on your windows
Windows? Add walls and people to that list. Whenever Dargo first meets someone he sniffs like crazy then snort/sneezes all over them. It's so embarrassing.
