Re: Koko Update

Thanks, Cora. It is a great story and I am so happy it's mine and Koko's. I wouldn't trade her for anything and I don't know who could have just left her in her house all alone with no food or water. She has never made me even get slightly upset never mind mad enough to beat...not that I ever would ...

Re: Koko Update

Thank you for remembering. I am grateful each day that somehow, when I wasn't looking for another dog, Koko and I found each other. Not a day goes by that I don't look at her and smile and get a warm, fuzzy feeling. I'm still so grateful to Kokogirl for rescuing her and then giving her up, although ...

Koko Update

As some of you might remember I adopted Koko from someone who posted on here by the name of Kokogirl. I just thought I would give an update of her on here. Koko was abandoned and abused by her first owners. Her wonderful neighbor fed her by flashlight each night until the ASPCA confirmed her as &quo...

Re: Chow nose

I love not only the nose but everything else...those cute furry ears, brown eyes that look like they've been made up with eyeliner, the smell of her fur, those big paws, blue tongue, curvy, furry tail!! In fact, there isn't a thing I don't love about my girl Koko. We are coming up to her 10 month an...

Re: Rawling Chow

That's one thing I've noticed about Koko...she NEVER EVER rolls. My other dogs rolled all the time. I'll tell you what, she stays much cleaner this way and so does my house...no leaves or twigs or stuff brought in on her fur!! Loved the video...thanks for sharing.

Re: dad can we turn on the airconditioning

Wow. I guess I'm lucky I live in CT. We get our really cold days in the winter, really hot days in the summer, but most of the time it is pretty nice. Today is great. About 68 and sunny...a bit breezy, but nice. We've had a week of rain but the temps have been okay. No heat on in the house and no ne...

Re: Do you remember Koko?

Thanks for all the positive comments about Koko. I'll post some more pics when she stays still long enough for me to get a few good ones. But here is one of her with my son's dog, a field spaniel, named Simba. They are best buds!! This was taken a few months ago before she got back all the fur she l...

Re: Kimba and Zues

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Kimba was beautiful. What a sad story. You made the right decision...it sounds like she was in too much pain for you to do anything else. And don't forget, she WILL be waiting on Rainbow Bridge for you!!

There were a lot of postings from her foster mom on this website...beautiful red chow needs a home was the heading for the postings. ...

Re: Young Chow, new UK owner seeking reassurance/advice

Hi, I've also just rescued an abandoned chow...female...probably the same age as yours. I have had her for 3 1/2 weeks and she is still not letting anyone pet her except for me. She has almost the same potty issues as yours does, however, she does not wet in the house. My feeding schedule with her i...

Re: Is this just shedding or something more?

Thanks for all the great thoughts! I called my vet today...thank goodness I've used the same one for over 20 years. Her thoughts were that the excessive fur loss could be from stress, poor nutrition, or it could just be the way she sheds. She also said that as long as I didn't notice her scratching ...

Re: Is this just shedding or something more?

Thanks for the replies. I will try to get a pic but she runs if I come near her with the camera. She is feeling more at home here but she still has her moments of worry. I would be more concerned if she seemed uncomfortable but she is very playful and she has been eating like a horse. I am feeding h...

Is this just shedding or something more?

Hi, I hope someone can answer this question. I had a chow chow mix for 12 years and I loved her!!! She shed a great deal but was okay with my brushing and fussing over her. I have just adopted Koko who is a full chow. She is shedding now but it almost looks like she is molting. She has places down h...

Re: Hair, there and everywhere!!

Hi, I've just rescued Koko..you might have read some of the blogs from her rescuer on here. I've had a chow chow mix before and I know about the fur loss and finding it everywhere. However, over the past few days I've noticed that Koko is really losing lots of fur. She is almost without fur in some ...

Re: Beautiful young red female needs a home

Hi All, Just thought I would give a quick update on Koko. Every day she seems to feel a bit more comfortable. Although she still is pretty selective about who can pet her and when. But I know that is also a Chow trait so we just accept her for what she offers. She seems to have become attached to me...

Re: Beautiful young red female needs a home

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!! Has anyone ever seen a 6'4", 250 man turn to mush??? Well, it happened yesterday when Koko let my husband Vin pet her. He comes home each day talking to her like he did to the kids when they were little..."who's a good girl? Look at you!! How pretty are you??&...

Re: Beautiful young red female needs a home

Hi, I am Koko's new mom and I love her. I want to let everyone know what a wonderful, caring person her rescuer is. I feel blessed not only to have Koko in my life but to have met such a person as her foster mom. Thank you for giving her to my husband and I. We know how difficult it was for you but ...
