Re: "Chow-atude"

Bama & summer rose: I can appreciate your views about rescuing, that is why we took the chance on Mia (look on down through the posts here in forum and you'll see our tale) but since Stacy still doesn't have use of her index finger and is just now being able to drive and go back to work, a rescu...

"Chow-atude"

Stacy and I have been discussing our next furball so I've been looking at breeders websites (Stacy is gun shy about 'rescuing" again) and came across this statement on a site: "The Chow craves routine time to explore and play to maintain a happy and content disposition to be a great dog. C...

Re: Mia

Thanks to everyones thoughts. It will be a uphill climb during the recovery but we both are glad that I was home and not out of town that evening, it could have been so much worse. We're all ready talking about looking into a pup somewhere around the middle of February to carry on her spirit. Thanks...

Re: Mia

Mia turned 5 this last September. Jennifer (Mia's original owner) had said she had an aggression problem towards her daughter, and with us being seasoned Chow owners, we took the chance that we could change that behavior. It still puzzels me as to what "snapped" in her head. She has taken ...

Mia

It's been a while since we've been on here - Life got busier and time got a way. But it's with heavy heart that I'm here today, We had to put Mia down last Tuesday the 9th. On Monday night around 10, Stacy had sat down on the couch with gram cracker and offered it to Mia. She sat for a minute and th...

First night went well. She didn't bite the teacher, growled at him a couple of times, but didn't bite.
We've got a long road ahead of us, but Chris seemed optimistic.

The Scholar

Tonight is Mia's first class of her 10 week session.
She has her apple - I mean rawhide to give to the teacher, has her coat brushed and is ready to go.
Wish her luck.

Re: When time flys

Well we got down here last night all right - Mia spent 3 hours in the back seat and slept most of the way. Today she's been laying in front of the door of the camper listening to all the strange sounds outside. Mia has her first class Thursday night with a gentlemen that specializes in rescue and ag...

Barb
We're 2 hours from Jeff City (3 if I'm pulling the camper). We have family that lives just north of Jeff in Holts Summit. We normally stay in their spare bedroom, but this weekend we're wanting Mia to have her own space where it's quiet away from people and animals.

When time flys

Doesn't seem possible that a month ago yesterday, we were going to the airport to pickup the newest member of our family. We had talked with her owner several times, but still didn't know what we were getting into. Our hearts sank a bit as they brought the crate out that contained this blonde thing ...

Re: OK, Who did it??

Seem's Mia has done the opposite. For the past 2 weeks she's been loving and in the "play with me" mode, then Saturday she's decide that everyone in the house except me needs to be growled at and ignored... We can't figure it out. I just hope she doesn't decide that I need to be on the &qu...

Re: jade crossed

It is amazing at how a group that really has never met can come together like a family (complete with the bickering...lol) to support each other in all times. Each of you showed that to Stacy and I when we joined and started the search for Mia. It's been well over a year since Mick's passing and it ...

Re: The Mia Cronicles

Jennifer: Mia is doing good, she's warming up to us at her pace. She's also learning the routines of the house and creating some of her own, typical Chow. We got the package with her paper work in it, thanks. In a couple of weeks, we'll see how she likes to ride in the truck, we're going out of town...

Re: The Mia Cronicles

This evening at 7:30, Mia will have been with us now for a week. She is settling in slowly, but this has been a hard non-typical week around our house. With being off on Monday and then I had to travel for work on Thursday and Friday. But it was nice to see her wagging her tail at me when I got home...

Re: PLEASE HELP...*UPDATE-HOME FOUND!

Mia is here at the house and has spent the last 3 hours roaming and smelling the back yard. She's went through a pretty rough ride getting here - When they brought her up in the elevator at the airport, she was backed into one corner of her crate and was giving it all she had with the bared teeth an...

Re: Looking for a new companion

Well thanks to everyone's help and support - Looks like Mia is going from "Florida Girl" to being a "Midwest Girl" here in a short while. I've talked with Jennifer and Continental and we've set operation "Air Chow" in motion. I'll keep everyone posted as we know details...
