Funny, Winston also only poops in shrubs or bushes. Very rarley direct on grass, will do a garden bed before grass.

We have a Dyson with a power head and it works well. 1-2 takes over a hair ridden rug and its clean.

My chow sprained his hip, at the very least rest the chow for a few days and NO walking and give it a chance to heal. If in doubt see your vet

Re: Help to stop licking

I agree with above, maybe something wrong in he mouth/ gum etc and maybe the chow is licking to clean his wound. I know our chow would lick mny older dogs wound.

I'd suggest to andres owner to get his mouth checked.

Our 4 month old "James " human with Winston (3 years). Winston is great and always tries to help, protect and just be near him when he cries. When James was younger Winston would even vomit from the stress of him crying. He is such a good chow. James at 4 months http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn....

Re: RIP "Duff" 24th Oct 2011

Thanks Auddymay, Just reading this has brought tears up again. Was only thinking this morning how Duff would bash and open the door into the bathroom. I was always so annoying, but gez I miss it. It was amazing how Duff struggled with Winston initially but after that 1st 6 months they were so close....

Re: Albertz is away to rainbow bridge

I feel your pain as we put our 11year old down last week "Duff" . It will get better and as the days go on you will only remember the good things. Stay occupied and do your best not to dwell on the sad events. Poor Albertz and may he run with Duff Duff were ever they are.

Thankyou all for all your great support. Yes he was loved dearly and can't wait for the pain to pass and to only recall the good memories. I also see a few of you have had recent loss and may all our puppies run free, lick and sniff together. My last doggie loss was in 1999 and I recall it hurting f...

Re: RIP "Duff" 24th Oct 2011

Thanks Siriol, As you know you have been a huge help this year with knowledge and support through Duff's cruiate issues. I know it gets better with time and the wound is very young, but it is so weird not hearing him walk down the hallway and the moral issues weigh heavy. It's great having Winston a...

Re: Chow or shar pei- advice?

Shar Peis are more normal dog like and very loving etc, Chows have their attitude and are special. But having said that we will choose a Chow any day over a Shar Pei, Our Shar Pei X is very needy, where as the Chow is very indepentand and will do what he wants. But then he also likes a pat. Yes. And when they "cack" it out, it's ugly. When Zhu was younger, he would lick/groom his paws and next thing I'd hear is "cack!" Later in the day, I'd find somewhere outside, a ball of curdled chow hair filled "cack"! I've actually trained him to stop the lick/groom ...

We have a 11 yo Shar Pei X and a 2 year old chow, we had also fostered a 2 year old Shar Pei before the chow for a few months. We found there nature wonderfull and only had issues with smell which was controlled with diet on the fostered Shar Pei, I would recommend both but in short the Chow is much...
