David, we are sorry for your loss. You loved Maxwell and during whatever time you had together, however brief to us, he most certainly knew that.

Re: Why do chow breeders sell off their show dogs?
Someone is obviously thinking the members of this board are "a crayon short of a full box". You don't pick a username like showdogdump or ownersurrender for anything but its inherent inflammatory connotation to make a posting, and then expect to get any sort of cooperation or pleasantries ...

Re: New Vet in town, the skin Doctor
I passed a sign the other day that said "itchy pet? we're your vet" and I thought about this post! Catchy slogan for a vet I thought.

Re: Why do chow breeders sell off their show dogs?
There is a separate post under the Cartersville chows posting in the needs a home section (presumably by this same poster, but by someone calling themselves "FYI") that clearly identifies the rescue, the kennel and the chow and provides a link to it. It doesn't take a genius, but we're all...

Re: Why do chow breeders sell off their show dogs?
We are talking about West Texas Chow Rescue and this has to STOP. I'm with Laura, we need a mod to lock or delete this thread. I cannot believe that someone would have the audacity to bash Linda and West Texas Chow Rescue. You can have the right to come on and bad mouth Linda when you have agreed to...

Re: PetLand purported Puppymill buyers
This story hit our local 11 o'clock news last night. Apparently, there was a widespread humane society investigation of some sort regarding this topic. There were several states named and Florida was one of them. The clips they showed on TV contained images of the puppymill cages and the dogs inside...

Re: Need some advice
Earlier this year, I was quoted prices in the same outrageous ballpark for replacements (bilaterally). That did not include the cost of any treatments if there were complications after the replacement surgery. However, I was very relieved to go to the orthopedic specialist and find out that the orto...

Re: input needed from other rescues and others
Barb can give you a better idea because she was there and saw what you did when she adopted Ming, but, all scenarios are possible. Keep in mind that we have shelters here that (in Barb's case even with the pound pups) put down whole families of dogs without blinking an eye. They are taken in as stra...

An attorney may be willing to help you on this for little or no charge (I know not too many people have extra cash lying around right now, but it may be worth a call or two) if you get in touch with someone who does this type of law. Lawyers can be looked at (although its not a complete listing of l...

Stormy: This is going to sound bizarre, but, without revealing too much about yourself or about me on a chat board, do you have friends/in-laws that live in SP? Did I meet Caymen back in May when I was waiting for Merlin (one of my rescue chows) to fly in from LA? You will remember this if you are t...

This one I'm going to reply to with a photo. Merlin loves TP and he is just lucky this wasn't our last roll at the time. Since it was so funny at the time, I couldn't resist taking a photo.

Try living here. Good weather when you're not boarding up your house getting ready for a storm, and of course, we have access to Mickey Mouse. We pay dearly in taxes and insurance here for the privilege of calling ourselves Florida residents. No offense to Mickey Mouse . . .

Re: Homeowner's Insurance
State Farm quit writing in Florida years ago and just asked the governor for a 47% rate hike and the governor told them to go take a hike, twice in fact - for me - I pay over $2,000 for homeowner's insurance (without my flood policy, which is extra) with a Citizens policy, which is a high premium, d...

Re: Homeowner's Insurance
Liability in general is a broad issue, for anything relating to anyone owning real property. Nothing will keep you from being sued if someone really wants to sue you, people are sued every day and have to hire lawyers to defend them, even if they are in the "right". There are "interpr...

Re: Homeowner's Insurance
Who is your insurance company? You have to tell them, however, if you are with Citizens, then I believe they exclude dog bites in all cases, your agent should know the answer to that question. I am with Citizens, and they have the exclusion (which means you pay for all cases), and there are MANY ins...

Laura: There was an earlier post re this chow by sweetpea on August 6 in Needs a Home section where Pooh Bear caught Jeff's eye. Nobody here on this board is at fault or to blame at all. Re: Looking for a new companion
I don't want to hijack Jerrald's post or anything, but yes, I went back and checked the original post on the forum regarding Pooh Bear (labeled something like "St. Louis" in the Needs a Home Section). To make things worse here, he's still posted on petfinder (nice, but I know petfinder sti...

Jerrald: Regarding your earlier post, do I understand you to be saying that Pooh Bear wasn't actually "with" a rescue, just posted by a person wanting to rescue him and he was still at a shelter? Or am I confused? Was he put down by the shelter or the rescue? Its relevant because I think a...

I hope he can find a home, a foster or sponsors here. Speaking of Saturday, I heard on the radio from our local SPCA that Saturday is (besides the anniversary of Elvis' death) National Homeless Animals Day. Has anyone else heard that? I thought I'd bring that up in case anyone was interested. It sur...

Tampa Pound Puppies Update (long)
This is an update I offered to post for Chingshouse (Barb) and her family on the "pound puppies" she has posted about before. It is LONG. Chingshouse now has their hands full with 2 6-week old chow mix puppies, who are as of this morning, at the Chingshouse as fosters. In order to get the ...
