Leaving home, my boy is always leading.
He decides where we are going.
His mind is set. It is a quick pace.
On our way back, he is lagging.

IMHO , May or even June/July 2009 would be more appropriate weather-wise.
All the spring chores would be over, the grounds would not be wet, school
would be over.

Chow Chows are introverts.
They will only give their love to whom they have decided to be worthy.
No need to waste time and energy with other humans or dogs.
They are not the unconditional loving dogs that others are.
Like humans, they will compromise and meet your demands halfway.
