I have never had any of my dogs/chows react that way to vaccinations, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. I would give your vet a call. Does he/she have a 24 hour number you can call?

Those who choose to get their pups from a breeder shouldn't be made to feel guilty because they didn't get their chow from a rescue and it's unfair to say they should feel that way. It sounds like pain to me also. But I agree, it might not hurt to give your vet a call. If for no other reason then to put your mind at ease. I know I have our vet's home phone in case of an emergency. Did your vet give you anything for pain for him? I hope he gets to feeling better real soon.
