Re: Grooming Troubles
I will have to try and get one of those tables. Brushing him is not the problem. It is bathing and trimming his nails where I have the biggest troubles. He gets very upset and moves around. He pulls his paw from you. I guess if I stay persistent, maybe he will give in. :) Will try the grooming table...

Grooming Troubles
This is going to sound really awful, I have a 7 year old male chow neutered. Up until a couple of years ago, Chub use to go and get groomed. The last time I picked him up, the woman told me that Chub was stressing to much. When I brought him home and to this day, he does not like his paws being touc...

Re: irritated skin
I had a problem with Chub Chub and the vet said it was allergies. After trying everything under the sun, I changed his food to Blue Buffalo Lamb and Rice dog food. So far it has been one and a half weeks and I have noticed less itching. Thought I would share this.

Re: Fur bitting that won't stop
I may have found the solution for Chub Chub's fur bittng. I took the advice you all kindly gave, and came up with food Changed to the Brand called Blue Buffalo, Lamb and Brown Rice combination. It has been 5 days now, with no fur biting and no more allergy medicine. I will keep you posted on the pro...

Re: Fur bitting that won't stop
Thank you for the input. Any information I can gather to help him with chewing his fur, the more avenues I can try. I have had him at two vets, with not much help.
Thank you for taking time to reply.

Re: Is your chow afraid of water?
I have a pure bread as well named Chub Chub. He dislikes water so much, that he will not pee on the grass in the morning if it has dew on it. He will wait until the rain stops to go outside. He has held it for a day believe it or not. Baths are taboo. So he definitely does not like it. Strangely, he...

Chows and Baths
I got some input about Chub Chub's biting, and now a general question please. Chub intensely dislikes baths for a long time now. He use to go to the groomers, and then all of a sudden would not let anyone touch him for grooming. He lets me brush him, but nails etc are a no way. Even to get his nails...

Re: Fur bitting that won't stop
That sounds exactly like Chub. I just feel so bad for him having all these sore spots. He looks so ruff right now, I don't even want to take him out lol Thank you for your input, and if I find out anything, I will keep you all posted. My vet actually said to give him allergy medicine. That worked fo...

Re: Fur bitting that won't stop
I thought it rather strange about the dust, but I will give the food a try. Did your vet give an allergy test to find out the problem? Mine just figured dust, so we really don't know. When he goes to my daughters for sleep overs (lol) he doesn't bite there, nor at my parents when he visits the chows...

Re: Fur bitting that won't stop
The vet figures he is allergic to dust.
I will try eliminating different things from his diet.
The strange thing is that he always had the same food, same treats etc.
Any suggestion where to start with the foods?

Fur bitting that won't stop
Hi Everyone: I am in desperate need of some information and guidance. You were all awesome on how to get my chow chow (named chub chub) to not growl and get him controlled at the door. Thank you all so much, it was the best advice. Now, I have another dilemma with Chub. He will not stop bitting his ...

Re: Introduction and Question
Thank you all very much for all the responses :) I have already taken some suggestions and put them into effect. I belive that he is trying to be the owner of the household, but again, only with me for some strange reason. Will let you know how it goes, as he is not the boss of me. I love the idea a...

Introduction and Question
Hi: My name is Carol and I have a wonderful Chow named Chub Chub. He is going to be 6 end of January. Here is my question and the background of the two of us! Chub Chub came to me when he was 6 weeks old. It was only him and I for the first 3 years. He has always been protective of me, but he seems ...
