Re: Rimadyl

Thanks for your replies and I'm sorry if I provoked a disagreement. I freak out way too easily because he's my baby and I want the absolute best for him. I did eventually give him the Rimadyl because he started pacing around and was obviously in discomfort. VIctory, you're right as usual! I didn't t...

Rimadyl

Hi, My chow puppy (6months old) has just been through entropion eye surgery and neutering. He's home now and his eye is terrifyingly swollen! The vet assures me that its normal and that it will die down in a couple of days. However, my question is that my vet has prescribed him with Rimadyl, a pain ...

Re: Help! My dog keeps vomiting :(

Hi Jacqui, I did quite a bit of research once my dog started having these bouts of diarrhea and vomiting.. but it seems that its a symptom for a bazillion other diseases and illnesses and frankly my research made me really worried and scared. I wish vets were more competent like the doctors for us h...

Re: Help! My dog keeps vomiting :(

Thank you for your replies! I'm hoping my dog just has a really touchy tummy too... @Victory: My pup is only 6 months old! If it was stomach cancer, would the symptoms emerge this early on? I use very lean high quality pork mince but I added a little pork fat to it because I read that pork fat is ac...

Help! My dog keeps vomiting :(

My dog has been vomiting every couple of days for about 2.5 weeks. I've already brought him to two different vets who ran blood tests, fecal test etc on him and they can't tell me what's wrong. They think its a bacterial infection and prescribed him diarrhea and vomit prevention medication. They als...

Hill's I/D canned food

Hi, my puppy Pumba is about 6 months old when he started showing signs of a very sensitive GI tract. he was vomiting a white foam almost every morning for over a week and constant diarrhea. So we brought him to the vet and after doing blood tests to rule out pancreatitis etc, the vet prescribed him ...

Re: Entropion Surgery

Hi I'm sorry to hijack this post like that but I'm in a similar situation. My pup was diagnosed with entropion at about 2.5months and my vet said that we should wait until about 6 months old and do the surgery together with the neuter. He did not prescribe any ointment or eye drops or even suggest t...

How to prepare real food diet

Hi, I have a 5mth old Chow puppy and although he appears to be incredibly healthy and energetic, he really isn't perfectly healthy :( he has had a couple of seizures and the vet also said that he has luxating patella in his two hind legs which really means the knee cap joints are a little loose. Alt...

Re: what is your chow chow's weight?

Hi, I know this thread has been inactive for sometime.... but I was wondering how I can tell if my chow is at a right weight? Its hard to tell from all that fur!! I've tried searching for his ribs very thoroughly but I seriously can't feel them but I'm not sure if its from all that fur or if he's ac...

Re: Aggression around his food! Please help :(

Thank you so much for your advice and concern! We've started really training him on the food guarding part... my bf wears gloves and picks up his food bowl, add a really extra special treat in it and then return it to him or feed him the treat directly. I call his name and pick up his food bowl dire...

Re: Aggression around his food! Please help :(

I'm just really near tears... I just found a black lump on Pumba's hind leg and it has a really black/dark ring around it. He has been licking that area for the last day or two and I thought he was just cleaning himself but I'm pretty sure that there's something else going on now. I'm going to bring...

Aggression around his food! Please help :(

Hi, this is my second post so far and I'm really finding this forum incredibly helpful! There are no chows in the area where I live and I can't seem to find anyone who can help me with my first chow. I'm so afraid its something that I'm doing wrong that is promoting all this bad behavior from my dog...

Re: How do you keep your chow clean?

Thanks for your advice! So I tried a couple of boots and they just looked way too weird on him and he didn't really like them either so I've decided I'll just have to live with his mud and grime and hope that he does grow out of it soon..... Thanks!
