Re: Bruin and New Family Photo
Hi Stacy,
It's a pleasure to see your pack all smiles and having fun. I'm tellin' ya, that Chow Fun will go missing one day and you'll have to look no farther for her than at MY house!
Thank you for giving Bruin his happy ending!
Jenn

Re: Disrespectful ?
Hi Fred - I'm a long time member of the board, but haven't been here for quite a while. I've worked in rescue for many years and am in the process of trying to start my own group. Chows are my favorite breed, but I don't own one right now. I see getting another dog this way: if your pup made SUCH an...

Re: Sunday, July 19th: NORTHERN CALIFORNIA CHOWFEST 2009!
One of my favorite things about ChowFest is when passers-by stop and ask us what's happening. As soon as you say "We're a chow chow enthusiast group that gathers once a year," it's remarkable the spectrum of responses and the faces out of which the responses come. Most folks really do not ...

Re: In memorium: Sherre Beisel, Wee Wonders Small Dog Rescue
Thank you Lou, for the lovely tribute. Sherre was a rescuer in the truest sense of the word, and the world is dimmer now that this bright light has gone out. She was a great and helpful friend to Rocket Dog Rescue when we reached out for help with a difficult situation. I wish I had known her bette...

Re: Breeders, puppy mills and testing labs
I personally would like to see larger permit costs (to own, produce, and sell) pets. Lesser amounts for secondary market units to drive their value up and easing their situation. Track all units and make ALL who participate in this problem responsible for the situation they create. Dude.....I was SO...

Re: More Dog Whisperer
I'm with Chowwoman on this. In the wild, dogs understand violence, and I am a firm believer in it as a training method. Please note I said VIOLENCE...not PAIN. When I found Orso on the freeway, the only thing he could do was "shake." He wouldn't sit, stay.... nothing. He was (and is) a foo...

I'm very proud of you, Sojo. You rock SO hard!!! Welcome to the world of rescue. Now, roll up your sleeves, cuz you're in for some s#!+ (but in a really really good way!) I'm not a pro, but I've been working for a local rescue here in SF for a year now. If there's anything I can do to help, please ...

Hi All - Sorry I haven't been here before this. The RDR volunteers have been running like crazy trying to keep things together, and find foster homes for dogs we have committed to take from shelters before all this happened. PLUS...it's the holidays, just to make matters a BIT more complicated...arg...

That's exactly what happened. SF ACC told me that this old guy was found on I 5 near SB. What do I know? I always FLY to SoCal, I never drive! Anyway, lots of people have emailed me about that. I'm fired! Thanx to everyone for cross posting him. Joan from Adopt-A-Chow L.A. also sent him out on her l...

About 15 years ago, I worked at a school in a very wooded area on the San Francisco Peninsula. The school had a HUGE soccer field and there was a guy who would bring his two wolf dogs to run them around on the field when no one was there. (Wolves and wolf hybrids are illegal in California.) The firs...

These pictures made me cry like an idiot. My boy looks so happy, doesn't he? His new parents are wonderful people, and it shows in Poe-dog's face. I'm pretty sure Poe's story will be featured in a publication called Bay Woof in December or January. I'll make sure to share the article with all of you...

Not exactly Part Two, but.....
I keep meaning to write about these guys but every time I sit down to do it, I'm usually so pooped that I am afraid I will be incoherent. For now, here are a couple more pictures. Desdemona and Laszlo are darling together in the first photo. I really love Phoebe, who I think may end up being a blue....
