Re: My Chow bit my daughter...
First of all I disagree strongly with the last post. Your chow is your responsibility as much as your child is and attempting to re-home him now without correcting the behavior is very likely to end up with him dead. So please don't do that. I am so sorry to hear that your daughter was injured. It m...

Re: Coco bit me (blood)
Oh, so sorry to hear about that. I know there are those here who have chows that will give up anything to a command. I, on the other hand, have a significant scar from taking a chicken bone out of a dog's mouth. In my case, I do not think the dog was trying to bite me, merely continuing to chew on h...

Cinder throws her head so far back it seems she has no bones in her neck. Usually when riding in the car to look out the opposite window without turning around.

Re: Chows and Autism
I think most chows may have Asperger's. They love patterns and routine, are sensitive to noises, don't really value social contact outside the family, are regarded as strange by other dogs, and are obessed with certain things: squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, mailmen and walks. They speak differently ...

Re: GRRRR...Banks...Credit Card Mafia!
I like the title of this post. I had used a cash advance check from a credit card to pay off a loan because the cash advance was no fee, 0% interest for life provided all payments were made on time. Then had the minimum payments autotransfered monthly from our checking account to ensure that none of...

Re: seat belt
Juniper, I can't quite picture what you are using. The only thing I can envision is a short bungee cord with the hooks on each end, but that would stretch and not hold them in place if I stop short, wouldn't it? Can you enlighten me? Or point me to a source so I can look for it? (Oh, I keep the kids...

Glad to hear Scotti has had a good day...Let's just put out there in the universe that there WILL be more good days than not so good ones for ALL our furkids! :D From your mouth to God's ear. I'm so glad to hear Scotti is doing better. He looks extremely happy with his packmate too. Before I found ...

Re: seat belt
I have to admit I've never tried seatbelts for my furkids. They ride in the back cargo area of my station wagon. Teddy lies down and falls asleep, almost before we are out of the driveway. Cinder goes from side to side and front to back (within the cargo area) always looking out the windows and ofte...

AHH David great pictures as always. I agree the kitty looks like it might rule the roost. Love the kitty's play area. I always wondered why we don't try and make one for our chows, HMMM Could you imagine the size of that thing! The of course that would be beneath them and they would never play on i...

Re: Shelter screwed up....
Cinder is willing to help Ivana. If that guy doesn't like chows, he should be lunch, in her opinion! Teddy however, thinks the guy just needs to be rehomed, shown his place in the pack (below all the 4legged creatures, given his past behavior), and loved. He thinks he is behaving badly in the shelte...

Re: Mailie and Louie nose to nose
They are both beautiful. Louie is definitely a big boy. My Teddy is 80lbs, so that is not out of the question. And I still pick him up, just not very high or for very long, any more. (I lift him into the car, or the bathtub). You just need to build up some upper body strength. Lily is a tiny little ...

Yoshi, you rock. Tell your Dad you deserve something extra special, maybe steak or I really like these little fishes mom gets out of a rectangular can. You should get to pick for being such a good watch/alert chow.

Your yard is great. My furkids are jealous as we live in town and they only have a small yard. Looks like your canines are happy campers out there. And let me get this straight: this is your first cat, right? So someone (who shall remain nameless) has been on quite the shopping spree at the kitty fu...

There must be fairies because Cinder is always talking to and chasing things that are invisible to the human eye. I assume doggie senses are so much better she can see them and I can't.

Re: Louie's 16 week vet appt. So Embarrassing!
Ate there other vets in the office? If so, in addition to making the visit to the vets office a fun thing in and of itself by dropping by to visit as others suggested, try the other vets and see if you get a more positive reaction. My Chana loved everyone she ever met except one vet in the same offi...

Re: Two same s-x chows
I am one of those who once had two girl chowdren. Tasha had both the same parents as Chana but was from the next litter (1 year and 2 days later). They were great playmates and best friends until they were about 7 and 8 years old. A neighborhood cat was allowed to wander and seemed to enjoy tormenti...

Only once per chow. Teddy's eyes still water but they don't turn in so vet says it is probably allergies. Seems to be worse this time of year so probably outdoor allergies as he wants to live in the yard right now (hunting small game).
