Re: Help needed

There are 3 thousand members on this site a dollar each would be fine. Before you start sending donations back lets see what we can come up with.
I can't send as much as Jeff (God bless him) but I'm sending a little.

Re: Does your Chow sleep on the bed with you?

Mal'akhi figgets too much to sleep with me but he does love to jump up there and wake me up in the morning with various cute things he does.

The photos are great!

Re: What temperature can your Chow stand??

My black chow says heat is for the birds and wants back in as soon as he does his business. I looked at the temperature a little while ago and it was 99.9 (not normally this hot).

Let your dog tell you how he feels about it. Pampered pooches prefer A/C.

Re: Are there any seeing eye chows known?

I've seen a website of chows trained to pull wheel chairs and I've seen chows certified as service dogs in the capacity of going into nursing homes to cheer people up, but not as seeing eye dogs.

Re: Breeders, puppy mills and testing labs

Jeff, Seriously, were there no quality breeders, all we would have are generic dogs and we would lose all the wonderful qualities that we love in the chow chow. Surely you wouldn't want that, would you?

Well Judy and Fancier, you two feel FREE to put me on ignore!! Everyone has an opinion on this website and I do too. If you don't like my posts, then don't click my threads! If this other poster IS, indeed, an "authority" -- an actual medical veterinarian, then SHE needs to say so. Otherwi...

Re: Outdoor Anxiety

Wanted to give you all an update.

Sometime on Monday a switch went off in Mal'akhi's furry lil' brain and he figured the whole thing out about being outside. I feel much more at peace myself actually. Thanks for all your "advice."

Re: Computor Question???? Non-Chow

Jeff, I looked into the course you're talking about and they offer it here also at the local university for about the same price. It actually interests me! I'm going to investigate it tomorrow to find out how much other computer background knowledge one would need, but it sounds very intriguing. Who...

Re: Outdoor Anxiety

Chows are weird you have to out think them. AMEN to that!!! *L* Sweetpea, what was it that Gracie was afraid of? Ok, the reason I got so irritated at the exercise idea is the following (and yes, the dog can see through the fence): the back yard is huge...probably close to an 1.5 acre, not sure exac...

Re: Outdoor Anxiety

Exercise is one of the ways that dogs discharge stress chemistry, and exercise helps build calming chemistry (sense of well being). Just being in a fenced yard, isn't enough exercise, even if you engaged him in playing games. Dogs also need mental exercise, a change of scenery, socializing, and sni...

Re: Outdoor Anxiety

Jeff, The entire back area is forest and rocks and undergrowth with mowed grass up around the house. I thought he wanted me out there with him too until I spent two days and several hours sitting out there reading and then lying on the ground. But he wouldn't even come up to me but would shy away. K...

Re: Fur between eyes

My latest chowbabe has these two little "hair horns" on his forehead about 2 inches above where real eyebrows would be and they stick out like 2-3 inches. I've never seen hair horns on any other dog in my life *L* They're almost like antennas!

Outdoor Anxiety

Ok, calling all dog psychologists! I'm having trouble figuring out what to do about a problem Mal'akhi is having. Let me give you an update on his history. He is a rescue, about a year old, and he was running free for about 4 months before he was caught. When I got him, he was extremely scared of an...
