Re: Help. I think I need to get rid of my Chow.
I Googled “Alpha Roll K-9“. Many articles condemning the Alpha Roll as a out dated and possibly dangerous or damaging way to show dominance over a dog. Below is a sample article. Bob The alpha roll is somewhat of a mis-understood exercise when it comes to dominance in dogs. This short article is to ...

Re: Help. I think I need to get rid of my Chow.
I tried the so called Alpha Roll on my Cindy Bear. I would never use it again. I got the feeling that it caused more fear and panic rather than submission. It may be ok for other breeds, but my Chows seems to react better to gentle and passive corrections.

How do I get them to get along
My Cindy Bear 14 months and Nicky 8 months play to rough. When thy are in the back yard unattended they start out gently playing, but it quickly escalates into rough play until one or the other is on the ground and biting so hard that one of them will yelp in pain. Unless I have one of them on a lea...

Check this site. They rate the different foods and they explain why the give the foods different ratings. Good luck. Some food are great & some they consider carpet sweepings.

On Jan, 25 2008 Cindy Bear ( 7 Months old) lost the use of her RR leg. I took her to the vet and they did take x-rays. The X-ray did not show any problem. They told me to bring her back in a week. During that week she lost the use of her LR leg. They took more X-rays which did not show the problem. ...

"Its a Boy"
A beautiful 4 month old Chow pup named Nicky has decided to come and live with Cindy Bear at our house. He moved in today and we are doing everything we can think of to make him feel welcome. Cindy Bear has been great. She is curious about this stranger, but willing to share her toys. I know it will...

Does my Chow have poor posture
Does your Chow sit with one rear leg tucked under his or her’s body? Cindy Bear always sits crooked with one of her rear legs tucked under her body. Is that the way Chows sit? I am asking because Cindy has had ACL operations on both rear legs, but I think she sat like that before her injuries.

Re: Is Chi-Ching too small??
As beautiful as Chinger is I would not care if he were 40lbs. or 85 lbs. I think with Chows personality and temperament are more important than size and weight.
Is he to small? No.

If you do not know what caused the scab I agree that a trip to the Vet. is important. I hope that it turns out to be something minor.

Re: Chows: Do you trust yours off-lead?
I would let Cindy Bear run off lead in a fenced in area. Yard or dog park. If Cindy is off lead I cannot protect her as well as I can when she is on a lead. She is 9 months old and can probably find 1000 way to get into trouble. I am sure almost every one has had a close call of some type when their...

I've heard that Chows can have cat like traits. Your picture may prove it to be true. My pup cannot get on the couch, but she sure knows how to sleep behind it.

Re: riding in the car
I would take Buddha for as many rides a week as practical. The longer the ride the better. After a time he should settle down. Cindy Bear is great in the car, but Pixie Bear took a long time and a lot of patience before she would just sit next to me and enjoy the ride. She was scared of the car and ...

Re: On the road to recovery
It’s been 11 days since Cindy has had her Cruciate Ligament Surgery. She is coming along nicely. Her stitches are out and she can take very short walks. She cannot use stairs yet. I made and appointment at a Veterinary Rehabilitation Center for Therapy. I am not completely sure what they are going t...

Re: chow skin condition is driving her crazy
I am sorry to for your Chows skin problem and I hope you find out why. I had a similar problem with my last Chow. It took going to different Vets and a couple of years of useless visits and shots before we found out why. It was a food allergy. The last vet. suggested that we take her off of all food...

Re: On the road to recovery
Cindy is starting to take food and treats. She can walk, but needs the help of a sling to get up to a standing position. I carry her up and down steps. Her shaved rear quarters make her look like a poodle that had a bad day at the dogy salon. I think that she will become stronger every day. http://i...

On the road to recovery
Jan. 20 Cindy Bear couldn’t put weight on her right rear leg. I took her to the vet and they X Rayed her leg. Nothing showed up on the X Ray and she showed no sign of pain when the Vet checked her leg out. She gave me a anti-inflammatory pills and told me to bring her back in a week. Three days late...
