Re: The most common traits of Chows?

They are so loyal. Tara used to just sit by the door and wait until we got back home. The second she saw us, the tail would be wagging non stop. Also, I don't know if this was a Tara trait or a Chow trait but when she was really excited she made this strange sound that was similar to an orangutan. A...

Re: pretty black male in Miami Dade shelter

 That is wonderful news!! How exciting and I hope Rambo II will show him the ropes and ease his fears (if he is indeed fearful, it may just be the stress of being in the shelter). Congrats! I can't wait to see pics and bless you for taking the long ride to adopt your new best friend.

My mom is going to mail me her copy of Dog Fancy as soon as she's finished with it. We have two Shih Tzus as well as having had Tara. In this issue it gives you a webpage to make your own cover of Dog Fancy and here's Tara's. Bless her soul, we miss her so much. http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t2...

Tara always slept on the side of our bed. She had just always done that. When she passed away, that is where she was.

:( Nothing, no word at all. There have been no sightings for just about a month now. Fliers went up, but still no calls. With all the very severe storms in that area the past few weeks, it wouldn't be a surpise if he has left the area. My mom wasn't sure if the rescue group had actually gone out the...

The update I received today brings some good news as well as bad news. The bad news is that there hasn't been any new calls to the shelter so it's been about three weeks now. Also she is actually a HE!!! This makes things more complicated if he is found since I have three males at home, but I'm sure...

the last three summers we trimmed Tara's hair down. With her heart conditions, it was important to keep her as cool and comfortable as possible. Though she was only outside to potty, we still clipped her to about 1 1/2 inches in May and it would grow during the summer and be just about full coated a...

Thank you for adding Tara. She was always our inspiration and really showed her determination to fight her heart disease and CHF. The video is beautiful. Thank you again so much.

I e-mailed Ron and Pam and gave them my mom's telephone number. She actually met Shy at the shelter back in June and will have more information. She's also willing to help in a more extensive search if a group can be formed. She's gone out there a few times and called for her but never saw any sign ...

Your post is heartbreaking and I know the pain you are feeling. Having lost Tara just a few short weeks ago, the pain is still there for me too.

Enjoy tonight and the time you have tomorrow. Many thoughts and prayers will be sent your way.

My mother informed the shelter that if she is turned in by someone that found her or if they pick her up that she wants to be notified. She may have to stay the five holding days but my mom said she will get her out as soon as they release her. If she can be found, she should be safe!

I should add that I am interested in adopting her!!! She also has rescue willing to take her if I'm unable to get out there.

I really miss my Tara and believe Shy might just be what we need right now.

Her name was simply Shy at the shelter. They believe she is in the wooded area behind Wal-Mart and should be dragging around the leash she was wearing unless it broke off (would be ideal since the leash catching on something could be deadly). I don't know if she would respond to her name or not, but...

In Memoriam: Missing My Tara

I'm new here, but I lost my beloved Chow Tara 16 days ago. She was our rock and our soul. She passed away on 7/22/07. Please indulge me to tell you a little bit about her. We received Tara as a puppy in January of 1994. She was a freebie pup and my sister knew the daughter of the lady who had the li...
