Re: Brindle Chow Chow?

No, the chow in the pictures she posted is definitely a brindle. I recognize the markings from my own. You can see the color swirls on him.

Re: mistaken identity?

I now someone right now that has 2 black chows. One is 96lbs and the other is 102! I think this is the exception rather then the rule. Lace is 45lbs and Leo is 66. I believe they are both average size.

Re: Three more days

The next 3 days are going to just drag by for you!!! I can't wait to see pictures and hear how he is settling in. How old will he be? 8 weeks is best, but there are worse things. Do you get to drive to the breeder and pick him up or is he flying in? Anyway, good luck and I so envy you the puppy brea...

Pictures anyone?

Hi! I don't know if many of you remember me, but both Leo and Lacey just had birthdays and I thought I would share a few pictures. Lacey turned 1 on May 25th and Leo turned 3 on July 8. I can't believe they aren't puppies anymore. Well, they are in attitude, just not size!! Anyway, here is a picture...

Re: GL Harnesses

Thank you everyone! Sounds like I need a large for Leo and a medium for Lacey. I would love to walk them without being pulled down the street or having to yank back constantly trying to teach them NOT to pull me!!

Re: GL Harnesses

So, these harnesses are really that good? Leo and Lacey both like to pull and Leo practically chokes himself. I have picked the GL up at the store, walked around with it and put it back. Maybe I should go try one. What size do you guys usually get? Lacey is 45 lbs and Leo is 65.

Re: Kyra's Turn

Oh, the poor baby! That sounds like too much going on! Did you have to put a cone on her? I have never had a female dog before, so this is new to me. If I need a cone, I want to buy one of those soft ones, but I just don't know if it will be needed. Lacey is a lover, but she also gets a bit sassy, s...

Re: Kyra's Turn

But it just seems like yesterday when you got her!!! I am glad she is recovering. I need to get Lacey fixed as well, but she keeps going into heat! she has had 2 in the last 3 months. Vets in Anchorage don't keep them over night, so I am planning on doing it when I am off work for my moms knee surge...

BettyBloop, I am so sorry for your loss. You had a beautiful chowling. Please don't blame yourself. In human babies we have SIDS. Doctors still don't know what causes SIDS although they suggest a few things to lesson the occurance (never let baby sleep on it's tummy, no smoking around baby, etc). I ...

Chows are dumb, huh? I will have to speak to Lacey about this. She is in Puppy II and the trainer keeps asking me "How old is Lacey" When I tell her she is 4 months old she shakes her head and tells me how well she is doing. She is the youngest in her class and while we do need to work on ...

leo does have really nice markings - but sure looks like a chow ?? Leo IS a chow. Did you think he was something else? We actually had rain today! Rain in Alaska in November? Unheard of. Mother Nature sure is having fun with us, isn't she? The chows don't care though. It is still cool enough for th...

Let's see, We got our first "sticky" snow last weekend. Leo loves the snow and will stay out for hours. Lacey is more of an indoor chow and sometimes we have to boot her little hinney out the door. Lacey is now 4 months old. No, I don't do anything special for their feet. I remember last y...

Love the pictures, Layla! Alf has ears!! I knew he would get them. I love how playful Millie looks. The thought of Alf stealing your bath mat just cracks me up. Lacey always has something in her mouth she isn't supposed to. She just dragged my daughters bathrobe into the family room like it was some...

I also have VPI. There are better companies, but they don't insure here in Alaska. I just got Lacey's policy set up. I think it is worth it because I don't have to worry about unexpected health issues, I will get money back from them. I have the additional coverage that also covers well visits so I ...

Lacey

Well, Lacey is now 4 months old and doing pretty good. Leo has fun playing with her, but he also lets this little cream puff roll all over him. He tolerates her with so much patience it is unbelieveable. Lacey attended puppy class and is now in Puppy II. We have a ton of snow now and the roads were ...

I have never heard of an animal becoming aggressive after being altered. It is usually quite the opposite! Most chows hardly notice after the first day. I would definetly get her spayed as it doesn't sound as if you are prepared to be a "breeder" at this time. Please remember, dogs can go ...

Leo likes to hump stuffed animals (big ones). After we had him fixed, he stopped and hasn't done it for over a year. Two days ago he started humping his stuffed caterpiller. I hope this doesn't mean he is practicing for when his new sister Lacey comes!!!

Call me stupid, but what is bad about #12? It says you have the right to know the breed of dog you are getting. I interpret the second part to mean they aren't going to tell you you are getting a lab mix when everyone can tell it is part chow, just so you won't hesitate to adopt. Personally I think ...
